When I was exhausted from crying we went back into his room and sat on his bed.

"I'm Austin by the way."

I look at him before I reply. "Mack. I-I mean, I'm Mack." I mentally slap myself for getting nervous.

"Are you fine with talking about this?"

"Not yet, please, not yet."

"Okay, I promise, I won't ask until you're ready."

"Thank you."

"Do you want something to eat? Do you need a place to stay?"

"No thanks, I'm good. Umm... A place to stay?"

"Yeah, if you want to stay here- but of course, you don't have to- well, you can take my bed and I can kind of keep you a secret here," he says even though it sound like he's unsure.

"Would that be too much to ask for?"

His face lights up for only a half a second before it goes back to normal. "Of course not, please, make yourself at home," but just as he says 'home' I feel my face fall and my mood darken as I let my memories of my past flood back to me. "Are you okay? Did I say something wrong?"

"I'm fine. It's not your fault it's just- it's nothing."

I know he doesn't buy it but he chooses not to go on with it any further.

"So what music do you like?"

That was random. "Um... I haven't really thought about that before."

"Hmm... What do you like to do for fun?"

Nothing. "I uh... Don't really do anything..."

"Since we have nothing to work with, I guess we'll have to start from scratch."

"What?"

"I will give you a whole new life that I know you will enjoy."

"Umm... O-okay."

"So we have a deal then," he says as he holds his hand out.

I take his hand. "Deal." I can't help but smile at his words. I can't remember the last time I smiled.

"This means you can't back out at any time."

"You didn't say tha-"

"Nope! We already shook on it."

I squeeze his hand tightly since it was still in my own. I better not regret this.
