Mack
I wake up slowly the next morning, my face stained with tears. I look around at my strange surroundings to find it unrecognizable.
"I see you're awake."
I look in the direction of the voice. The man from last night stands before me. I flinch as I start to feel terrified. It must've been clear in my expression because his face showed worry.
"Shh... It's okay. I won't hurt you. In fact, I just saved your life."
I shake my head furiously. "Why did you do that? Wasn't it obvious that I wanted to die?!" My speaking turned into yelling and it hurts so much to let the words out. Both mentally and physically. I suddenly feel a sharp pain around my neck and take notice of the open door of a bathroom to my left. I get up from the bed and walk towards it. The stranger is trying to say something to me but I don't bother to listen. I then walk into the bathroom and glance up at the large mirror. There are large bruises circled around my neck.
Tears start forming in my eyes again and pull my sleeves down over my wrists selfconsciously.
"Are you even listening?"
He notices my tears falling and grabs my wrist to get my attention but my reaction is a wince in pain. He sees my reaction and glances down at my wrist in his hand. I let him carefully pull up my sleeve to reveal some of my many scars. A few being pretty fresh. I notice his face fall to a dark expression.
The man doesn't say a word but instead pulls me close to him and wraps his arms around me. I hesitate at first, but then I return his embrace and let my tears fall more freely.
I feel like I already trust him, and I don't even know his name.
