One closed in around me and bent down, fangs at the ready. I backed away as far as I could but with my arms and legs bound, I couldn't get any more than a meter away. The smell of his putrid breath engulfed me, the smell of rotting sour-ness of which I was next assured to be. I tried to struggle free from the rope but it was tied to tightly I couldn't move at all neither could Jake. It's the worst thing knowing something’s coming and you can't do anything about it just sat there helplessly hoping for a miracle. We all know miracles don't happen like that in real life as they do in films and books.
I closed by eyes tightly picturing a better place remember happy memories, it's really true, when faced with death you see your life flash in front of you. I did. Lucy screamed with fright crying with hysterics knowing what she was about to witness.
Then I felt it, the horrific sharp stab in my arm, the most excruciating pain ever. Their razor blade fangs penetrated through my skin.
I wailed in unbearable pain, I never thought dying could be so agonisingly painful.
Just before, he could take another bite and rip me to shreds Jake finally broke free with ease. He was different, very angry I guess he has much more power and strength when he's angry. Despite him being free, it was nearly to late for me the amount of venom in my system swarmed through my bloodstream I would have soon been dead.
With all the anger and strength Jake had he attacked all 3 of the vampires when they were off guard, mesmerised in the taste of my sweet blood. They slammed down with ease but it wouldn't be long before they would re-awaken they'd only passed out from hitting their head so hard. Jake had to work fast. He bent over to my body and pulled out the liquid potion from my pocket, which I had completely forgot about. The only problem was there was only a small amount left, the rest must have leaked out. I was nearly blacked out by now, laying on the stone floor. Not only was I losing a fair amount of blood by the venom was doing the most harm shutting down my brain more every second.
Jake poured the remaining liquid down my throat and I swallowed as best as I could, it tasted discussing not far from a dentist injection. Now all there was to do was wait. If there wasn't enough potion for the amount all of the venom I could still become 1/2 vampire like Jake.
Jake quickly ran over to Lucy and untied her as fast as he could, her body was shaking with fear and she was in utter shock.
I felt as if I was coming around, I became more aware of my surroundings, I was able to sit back up. My arm was still bleeding heavily so Jake ripped off some of his shirt and carefully tied it around the wound. Although the vampires were down at the moment we both knew that, it wouldn't be long enough to escape and free the other hostages plus they would follow me with the trace of my dripping blood.
Then it came to me that I had brought garlic with me. I eagerly pulled it out from my other pocket.
"Jake," I said to him holding the garlic in my hand preciously "this will finish them off"
"You genius, quick pass some here and peel some as quick as you can and then put it in their mouths" Jake replied.
We rapidly peeled the garlic and placed it into the first 2 bloodsucker’s mouths just one more to go. I had it peeled and ready to go but just that split second the final vampire opened his eyes in a flash instant. Without hesitating I jumped on his chest stopping him from get up, let some of my blood drop from my wound and he opened his mouth ready to catch the drop, I quickly dropped the garlic and it landed in his mouth. Instantly he appeared lifeless, mouth wide open and eyes startled. The face would be enough to give anybody a nightmare for a lifetime.
I lent over their bodies, felt to see if there was a pulse. None. I grinned knowing that finally it was nearly all over. Jake and I hurried back into the rectangle room and I opened the remaining 14-ish oversized doors with my bobby pin whilst Jake had Lucy slung over his shoulders still very much in shock. As I opened the doors, I told everyone what had happened and that they must never speak of this day EVER. They all seemed pretty traumatized down to the last one so it's doubtful they would have remembered what had happened anyway. Once all had left and gone back home all that was left was to destroy the evidence luckily Jake had come prepared with kerosene and matches and we set the whole lair on fire. The bright orange and red flames twisted and twirled in amongst the green foliage.
We hurried back through the eerie Darterson woods leaping over the fallen trees and huge root systems, nimble on our toes. When we finally came back out onto the road which I lived we realised we had a bit of a dilemma. It was the middle of the night we had a child that has been missing for weeks and I was still seriously bleeding, I couldn't tell my parents because they'd know I’d sneaked out and the hospital would call them anyway.
"I know," Jake said confidently "trust me it'll be fine I’ll handle it, we need to get you to a hospital a.s.a.p. before you loose to much blood"
On our fast walk/jog to the nearest hospital, we talked about what it was like being half vampire. At first, I thought it sounded amazing to have the powers but not eating humans, what could be better? However, he told me that sometimes it's hard, at first he felt he needed human blood but it was much easier to control than if you were whole vampire where it would be a necessity. Apparently, that's the only difference.
