Jade's POV

Tonight is the bonfire, surprisingly I've never been to one of the bonfires. Of course I know of the legends, but usually the bonfire was just for council members. My father told me it was best if I came tonight to hear about our ancestors from the council.

My father and I walked outside to see all the council members, and a few other people that were part of the tribe all gathered together. Paul, Jared, and Sam were getting the fire started, throwing massive pieces of wood together. Next thing I know the massive stack of wood was set on fire. The boys also carried thick logs for everyone to sit on around the fire, minus my father of course

"Hey Jade" Paul said walking over with his hands in his front pockets. It was weird Paul has never really paid me much attention, I guess I just wasn't his type and I was completely okay with that.

We walked in a comfortable silence to the logs so we could start the story telling. I was shocked to see that Paul sat down next to me instead of his best friend Jared. I looked out towards the burning fire consumed by my own thoughts. "I think your dad is ready to start" Paul said turning to face me. When we made eye contact, it may sound chessy but I just couldn't tear my eyes away from his beautiful brown eyes. I was the one that finally broke eye contact to see that my brother had in fact arrived.

As I'm walking I somehow trip over my own feet. I wait for the impact of the sand, but it didn't happen. When I open my eyes I'm in Paul's strong arms. I could feel the blush rush up to my cheeks. "Thanks" I mutter he just chuckles

"Jade!" I turn my head in the direction my name came from,Jacob had called out my name as he made his way over to where all the council members and everyone else was.

"Hey! Where have you been? I was going to wait for you but dad said that you would just meet us here"

"Oh I've been at the Swan's"

"Why?"

"Well I've been hanging out with Bella more recently. Ever since the Cullen left her she's been feeling pretty down"

"That was months ago though"

"Yeah I guess he did a real number on her"

"Just be careful okay Jake. The pale face might just be using you to get over the Cullen" I could tell that he was instantly upset over my statement.

"Why would you say that, she's in love with me"

"If she was really in love with you why she still hung up on the Cullen" I then walked away back to my previous seat.

As I was returing to my spot on the log I could see Paul trying to hold in his laugh. I jokingly shove his shoulder, causing him to laugh even more.

"What are you laughing at?"

"You really just got yourself involved in your brother's girl problems"

I let out a huff, crossing my arm and sitting down next to him, "I'm just trying to protect him. It is so obvious that the pale face is only using Jacob as a tool to get over the Cullen. Which I don't even understand why she is so upset with him leaving. If anything him leaving was a favor for her"

"I couldn't agree with you more"

"And why is that Mr.Lahote?"

"You know the legends"

"You're not serious are you?" I asked laughing, but I soon realized Paul was not laughing with me

"You really think that the Cullens are vampires" he nodded
