His eyesockets widened at the girls words and the determined look in her eyes.'she's telling the truth isn't she..?'he thought to himself momentarily frozen in place at the realization.'no...I can't take her word for it, I'll have to keep an eye on her just in case..'he finally decided.

Chara seemed to panic slightly at your new found determination not to hurt anyone."hey,you can't be serious right?!All they want is your soul to break the barrier and set them free!" Chara said panic rising in his voice. "Anyway I'll see you later Sans" you say before walking away. Once you were far away enough from sans you turned to look at Chara ."you worry to much, their harmless" you said confused as to why he was so focused on changing your mind."if their so harmless then why did you go down to 1 health twice when we were in Snowdin forest?!" Chara said taking a few steps toward you."calm down Chara" Frisk said moving slightly between the two of you."I agree with Frisk,you should calm down Chara"you say cautiously trying not to upset him any further. He took a step back and looked you dead in the eye and said "they will hurt and even kill you,they don't deserve your mercy". Your eyes widened at the amount of hate and lack of any type of compassion in his voice."I-I won't hurt them so don't waste your time trying to convince me" you say returning his stare. He sighed "fine but when you die don't come crying to me that you changed your mind" he said his voice cold and harsh."papyrus wouldn't hurt or kill me!" you say looking at Frisk for back up."you think he won't attack you?!oh,that's hilarious,fine keep going and we'll find out if your right." Chara said looking at you expectantly. You turn toward Snowdin town and start walking. You pass a small shop and get to another save point.
* seeing such a cute little town fills you with determination.

After going around town and talking with some of its residents you decide to go forward.After passing what seemed to be the edge of town your vision became obscured by a thick fog. After a bit of walking the familiar silhouette of Papyrus came into view. You listen to him talk and was a bit amused at his confidence but then he said something that made your smile disappear. "NO,THIS IS ALL WRONG I CAN'T BE YOUR FRIEND I HAVE TO CAPTURE YOU THAT WAY ILL BECOME PART OF THE ROYAL GAURD!". The world lost its color and the familiar battle screen came into view. "I thought you said he wasn't capable of hurting or fighting you" Chara said and you didn't have to look at him to know he was smirking and though you couldn't see him, Frisk was glaring at Chara. You ignored them and focused on the battle instead. You hit the ACT button and choose to '*flirt' out of curiosity. "FLIRTING! SO YOU FINALLY REVEAL YOUR ULTIMATE FEELINGS BUT IM A SKELETON WITH HIGH STANDARDS!"
Two options appeared in front of you.

*i can make spaghetti

*i have no redeeming qualities

Having learned about Papyrus's love of spaghetti you picked the first option. "OH, NO YOU ARE MEETING ALL MY STANDARDS! I GUESS THIS MEANS I HAVE TO DATE YOU...? LETS DATE L-LATER!"
Papyrus said trying to keep his cool. You did your best not to burst out laughing and stayed in the same spot to avoid the laughably easy attack.'See he's not really trying to hurt me!' you say to Chara in your head while Frisk nods in agreement. Chara didn't answer you so you turned your attention back to the fight. "LETS SEE HOW YOU HANDLE MY FABLED BLUE ATTACK!" Papyrus said excitedly as blue colored bone approached your soul. Remembering Sans's advice about blue stop signs you stayed perfectly still, which was hard because your first instinct was to move away from the attack. After the bones passed you started to feel strange, then all of a sudden you watched as your usually red soul turned blue and your body grew heavy. You being unprepared, wasn't able to doge the single small bone that was thrown at you. You saw your health go from 20 to 17 and though the attack didn't hurt to badly your arm had taken the brunt of the attack causing it to become sore. "YOUR BLUE NOW THATS MY ATTACK!" Papyrus said excitedly. "I told you he would hurt yo-" Chara started to say before Frisk cut him off. "Just knock it off Chara, why do you always have to do this!" Frisk said obviously angry. "Wha-" Chara started to say obviously surprised at Frisk's outburst before Frisk once again cut him off. "You always try to make people hurt others and can never let other people be happy!" Frisk said said gesturing toward you. Chara didn't have a response and you turned back to the fight.As the battle progressed Papyrus's attacks got increasingly harder, especially when the attacks started moving. You had gotten hit a few times which left you with 11 hp. "BEHOLD MY SPECIAL ATTACK!" Papyrus exclaimed but all that was there was a small white dog chewing on a bone that you assumed was supposed to be used in his attack. "HEY, THATS MY SPECIAL ATTACK COME BACK HERE!!" Papyrus yelled as the dog slowly moved away from him. "OH WELL I GUESS ILL JUST USE A REALLY COOL NORMAL ATTACK" Papyrus said as you once again spared him. The attack consisted of all the types of attacks he had used previously along with some new ones. By the end of the attack you had 5 hp left. "WELL ITS *HUFF* CLEAR THAT *HUFF* YOU CAN NOT DEFEAT ME! YEAH I CAN SEE YOU SHACKING IN YOUR BOOTS, THEREFORE I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS WILL SPARE YOU! NOW IS YOUR CHANCE TO EXCEPT MY MERCY HUMAN!" Papyrus said and you could tell he was tired. Happy that you didn't have to hurt him you hit the MERCY button and clicked the spare option. The battle ended and you listened as Papyrus gave you directions to get to the surface along with the fact that the king was very kind and that he was sure if you just asked the king he would let you go home. You smiled at his optimism but the happiness didn't last because the second Papyrus was gone Chara appeared in front of you, and if looks could kill you well let's just say there was no guarantee you would still have your 5 hp. "Bravo, so you didn't kill him good for you!" Chara said sarcastically. "Of course I didn't! Papyrus wouldn't hurt a fly!" you say out loud forgetting that you could speak to them in your head. "Then why are you at 5 health?" Chara said smugly. You looked down, you didn't know what happened to them since they seemed so nice before......no they weren't nice they were persuasive and made you think you were making your own decisions when in reality you were just doing whatever they told you to do. "You must know your completely capable of hurting them and escaping the underground right?" Chara asked questioningly. "No, I'd never be able to bring myself to hurt them!" you say having gathered up the courage to raise your voice at him. All of a sudden a image flashes in your mind:

You gasp in surprise as tears pricked the corners of your eyes. "That may be one of my memories but if I can do it so can you were both human after all." Chara says smirking at your now fearful expression. "What? You don't like what you see?" Chara said a sadistic smile spreading across there face. "stop.." you say in a small voice. You could tell Chara was taking pleasure in your misery and you also realized you were a fool to believe that Chara was a good person. You had wrongly assumed that just because he helped guide you through the RUINS that he was your friend. "STOP" you yell no longer afraid. He chuckles at your anger "don't worry I still can't make you do anything but you will get bored eventually, it's only human nature." Chara said looking you straight in the eyes. You weren't naive enough to trust him anymore but you did think you could save him and that filled you with......................DETERMINATION
