It was about 8 p.m. now and the sun was setting behind the lake.
"It's so beautiful here!" excalimed Sally, with Eileen nodding in agreement.
"I can't believe its been so long since we were last up here!".
"Sure its beautiful! But wheres the excitment? wheres the fun?! I'm Bored!!", 'Yup' Jim thought, 'should have thrown Ralph out of the car when I had the chance!'
"What do you mean your bored? We just got here!", 'looks like Sally is annoyed too!' Jim thought again.
Then Eileen had an idea that would change all of their lives forever, "Hey I know! Don't you guys remember? Ralph - what is the game that we always had the best time playing here with granpa?".
"Uhh I dont't know... charades?"
"Try again!"
"go fish?!"
"Nope!"
"Well I don't know Sally! What is this, pop quiz time!" Jim could see the beginning of one of their infamous twin fights about to break out. Sally broke Ralph's arm once. Sally always won.
Jim was about to step in when Eileen shouted "Monopoly!! That was always our favourite game!"
"Bingo!" Sally shouted in excitment.
"Oh... yea" Ralph said with a confused look on his face "that was my next answer!".
Everyone rolled their eyes.
"Do you think Grandpa kept it around?" asked Jim.
"I bet its in the attic, I'll go check" said Eileen
Eileen walked up a creaky flight of stairs, and found the ladder to the attic.
To say the attic was duty would have been an understatment. It looed like it hadn't been cleaned in 100 years, and Eileen had to pull her shirt over her mouth before she passed out from excessive coughing.
'Wow this attic is messy!' she thought to herself as she began to rummage through the mess.
Back on the main floor, Ralph was pacing around the living room, "Whats taking her so long? I NEED something to do!!"
"Calm down Ralph, shes only been gone for 2 minutes!" Jim said as he imagined a peaceful house without Ralph.
"Finally!" shouted Ralph. Eileen was at the bottom of the stairs covered in dust, holding a dusty brown box. She didn't look too happy.
"Next time... we send Ralph up.." Eileen noted as Ralph walked up to her and yanked the box from her hands. As soon as he pulled it away from her, a cloud of dust shrouded Eileen's face. She sneezed and almost all dust the was on her came off in one giant cloud. It was like something out of a cartoon.
"Whoops" said Ralph. He had already torn off the top of the box and started pulling out the game bored "I love monopoly!!"
Ralph's memory seemed to have come back to him as he assigned everyone their favourite peices from when they were kids.
Ralph was the car.
Eileen, the top hat.
Sally, the dog.
Jim the ship.
It was like riding a bike, the memories of monopoly games past started to come back to the group. Sally handed out the cash - she was always the banker - and everyone placed their peices on GO.
Jim found both die saying "oldest first", as Ralph rolled his eyes in annoyance.
Jim took a deep breath as he shook the dice in his hands. 'I'm glad we all came up this weekend' he thought to himself while looking around the table and noted the excitement in everybody's eyes 'I missed this place' as he through the dice towards the table.
