Draco Malfoy
"Draco, come," Narcissa cooed softly from across the battlefield. Had it been his father speaking, Draco wouldn't have even entertained the idea but his mother was a different story.
He stepped forward and began to walk over to his parents, head hanging low so he didn't have to look at the disgust that was probably painted across the faces of those around him. As he approached the Death Eaters, Voldemort placed a hand on his shoulder and wrapped him in his arms but then his grip tightened and moved up around his neck.
"Too late Draco, you should have been with us from the beginning," he whispered menacingly before laughing loudly as he choked the life out of Draco.
Malfoy manor was filled with the terrified screams of Draco as he woke from the nightmare, unlike in his childhood, there was no one to comfort him, no one to tell him it wasn't real and no one to hear it when he screamed out in the dead of night.
His father had been locked away in Azkaban shortly after the Battle of Hogwarts, and his mother who had always been loyal to, and loved his father despite everything, had been locked into Saint Mungos after she broke down when they were arresting his father. She wouldn't leave her room and barely left her bed and eventually someone had come to tell him that 'the best thing for her now was to be taken somewhere she could be looked after' and that meant Saint Mungos.
Draco had barely coped when his parents had left him, he had no one besides Pansy, but that was completely different. Pansy had visited him almost every week since the end of the war which was almost 3 years ago now. She had admitted her feelings for Draco a long time ago but now they were gone and she was engaged to be married to Potter's muggle cousin Dudley Dursley, which might have been the weirdest thing to happen in his life. But Pansy had changed an incredible amount since the war, they all had.
Draco sat on one of the various balconies throughout the manor, drinking a cup of pitch black coffee and reading the Daily Prophet. After the war they had hired some decent and supposedly un-bribable journalists and now it was actually a decent read. The front cover of that morning's Prophet featured Hermione Granger, smiling as cameras flashed all around her. She had been in the paper a lot lately with all the work she had been doing with helping to modernise the wizarding world, Draco would freely admit that though he struggled with a great number of muggle inventions, the electricity was pretty amazing and really useful, what he wouldn't admit to anyone but himself was the joy it brought him to see Hermione's face in the paper.
He wasn't sure why he liked seeing her but he did. She had always been the background when Potter and Weasley were around but they were really just a couple of dumbasses without her. They would have been dead by the end of first year without her. Whenever Pansy brought up the subject of Hermione or Potter or Weasley, Draco always quickly tried to divert the conversation because:
1. He didn't like Potter
2. Or Weasley
3. Or the fact that Weasley was dating Granger
4. Or that Granger made his chest hurt
5. Or that he wanted to date HermioneThere were too many things he accidentally let slip to Pansy if he wasn't paying attention and if anyone found out his secret it wouldn't be good but especially not if it was Pansy who had decided to become 'best friends' with Granger as part of her acceptance kick.
Hi!
So I'm still working out a lot of the way I'm going to phrase stuff and the way this plot will play out and it will slowly and unfold but I will try to make it interesting and as non cliche as I can. I am also changing around my character pairings a bit but whoever Draco ends up with (it might not be Hermione) his child will still be named Scorpius and I wanted Pansy and Dudley together because Dudley grew up in a house that hated magic, and Pansy probably grew up in a house that hated muggles and I like to think that they could have ended up together in a world where the two started to combine.
