Chapter 1

My name is Primrose Everdeen. I'm twelve years old. My home is district 12. I have one older sister, Katniss, she's 17 years old. We live in a country called Panem. The capital is named Capitol. There are 12 districts of Panem. Every district have different things to produce, that the Capitol need. Every year, as a reminder of a rebellion (74 years ago), every district have to reap one young man and woman between 12 and 18, to fight to death in a television show in Capitol called "The hunger games" . It's only one winner - the one that survives. Since our district is the poorest, we've only one living winner, Haymich Abernathy. He won the 50th hunger games. Every 25th year, there's a Quarter Quell. They do something special about the games. When Haymich won, it were twice as many tributes as normal. It's horrible! And all the people from the Capitol is betting on who's gonna win. The president of Panem is named president snow. That's all you need to know. No wait! There's one more thing. The children from the Capitol, is safe. They'll never be reaped, the show is just entertainment for the people in Capitol.
