Chapter 3
Gabriel
"Hey Gabe, what's wrong with you today?" asked Drew, who stared at me suspiciously.
Drew was my only actual friend at school. I might seem really popular, but actually I didn't have many truehearted friends. Most people are either scared of me or just wanted to get benefits from sticking with me, to look popular.
"What?" I answered, suddenly self-conscious. Did he...?
"You're smiling like some creepy pedophile all morning. Where's that grumpy little G gone?"
"I did not..." I replied and tried to force a usual straight face, but I could not. As much as I knew how creepy I probably look right now, I couldn't help my good mood when I thought of her, Charlotte Jacobsen.
God knows how much I missed her all these years. She's probably the only reason why I came back to this place, where I left angry and hurt. If it weren't for her, I would never have wanted to come back. I spent every second, every night regretting the fact that I left her with that douche.
I didn't know what to feel when Drew told me how Aiden dumped her for some other girl. I felt so sorry for her but at the same time, I felt happy for myself. I left because I thought she would be happier with Aiden. She liked Aiden so much that she would never notice me, but this time, I won't let her go.
"Geez, you're starting to creep me out. Don't tell me you realized you fancy me. I know I'm hot, but-"
"Hey boys, how are you doing?" Haley, Drew's girlfriend-of-the-week clung onto Drew's arm and asked in a squeaky voice, immediately killing my good mood. I could never understand why Drew could stand this kind of girls. Their high-pitched voice sent goose bumps all over me in a bad way.
"Hey babe," answered Drew. He pulled Haley into a hug and started making out right away.
"Um, I gotta go, see you later," I dismissed them awkwardly and headed towards class. Geometry was one of the classes I shared with Charlotte Jacobsen.
My eyes involuntarily searched for her the moment I stepped into the classroom. I found her little body at the back of the class, spacing out. I could feel my smirk reappearing instantly on my face.
I plopped down on the seat next to hers. She jolted and snapped her head to face me. Her big eyes widened in shock.
"Hey cutie pie," I said with a playful smirk on my face and rested my elbow on the table. Her jaw dropped in surprise and stared at me with a blank expression.
"Done drooling?" I teased.
She snapped back to reality and said timidly, "S-sorry, this place is t-taken." Her eyes shifted to look at a girl walking up the aisle, which I recognized as the girl she usually sits with.
"Emily!" Charlotte waved at her.
I stopped her before she could say anything, "Hi Emily, do you mind exchanging seats with me?" I asked and gave my best panty-dropping grin.
The poor girl was in great shock, she squeals in excitement before turning around muttering something like "I can't believe he just smiled to me". Girls.
"Problem solved," I turned back to Charlotte, whose face was in utter shock and despair.
"W-what do you want?" she stuttered.
"Nothing much, I just want to know why were you on my balcony this morning," I questioned.
"I-it was a project on plants...you had great plants..." she lied.
