Chapter 6
Charlotte
The accident resulted me in a severely sprained ankle, multiple cuts, scratches, and a bruised and swollen face. What a nightmare.
"Ouch," I flinched when Gabriel applied ice on the bruise on my right cheek. We sat on the sofa in the living room of my house. He wrapped some ice in a towel and helped me press it against my bruise. I tried to escape his grip but he locked my head firmly with the other free hand. My head half rested on his shoulder while he continued to ice my face.
"You're blocking my view," The rerun of Criminal Minds is on. I can't miss a single thing, can I? But Gabriel's forearm was constantly moving in front of me, obscuring my sight. I adjusted my gesture to have a better view of the screen, without realizing I was leaning further towards him and his arms were technically wrapped around me.
"Do you have to do this? It hurts," I groaned in agony as he gently rubbed the edge of bruised area in circles. I tried to shrug his hand off but he held me so tight that I couldn't escape.
"It helps you heal faster. Now, don't but such a baby. Your face will literally swell and turn into a pig face if you don't cooperate. You don't want to be an ugly pig, do you, Piglet?"
"Stop calling me piglet. I'm not a pig," I protested defiantly. He had been calling me "Piglet" since we left the hospital. I feel like I've been talked to like a five-year-old.
"Why are you here though? Shouldn't you be at school?" I said when he didn't say anything but smiled.
"I, ugh, accidentally passed by," he stuttered.
I looked at him skeptically. Who on earth walk pass a quiet, unbusy, suburban neighborhood that early in the morning? And FYI, he lives at school. He doesn't even have to walk to school.
"It doesn't matter. I saved your sorry ass twice now, I wouldn't mind if you'd like to reciprocate by marry me," he said with a sly smirk.
"In your dreams," I rolled my eyes in disdain," Don't forget who made me go from bad to worse by elbowing me in the face."
"I'm really sorry," the sincerity of his voice had taken me aback. I looked at his deep, genuine brown eyes. Maybe he meant well, he didn't mean to hurt me, but I was being a bitch about it. For a split second I actually believed he was serious, but I was so wrong.
"But it's time your face needs some reconstruction," he said with a mischievous grin on his face.
I could feel my faced dropped instantly. He erupted into evil laughter, which embarrassed me even more. I shoved him in embarrassment, which he followed my push and leaned on the sofa, clutching his stomach, laughing.
"Your reaction was priceless. You looked like you just swallowed a pile of shit," He laughed hysterically.
"I swear to God one day I'll chop your balls off and feed them to your cat," I threatened.
"Your loss, you'll never get a taste of them," he said between chortles.
"Oh you're such a tease," I through gritted teeth with sarcasm. I struggled on top of him and pretend to choke him.
"Charlotte, do you-" We both froze at the sight of Marnie. She stared at as with her beady eyes in shock and contempt. I realized how compromising our position looked. I was straddling on top of Gabriel and he was under me. The first few buttons of his shirt were unbuttoned and his tie hung loose. His brown hair was ruffled and his cheek flushed pink. He looked... yum.
I quickly straightened up and removed myself from him, but accidentally bumped my leg somewhere and winced.
"You okay?" Gabriel steadied my leg and scrutinized the wound. I could feel Marnie's stern, disapproving look burned the back of my head.
