I sat in the library to finish the extra assignment Mr. Smith gave me as a punishment. I don't know if Gabriel's still gonna show up to "tutor" me, well, maybe not the fit he threw. I'd rather do it on my own anyway.
"Hey," a familiar voice said. I looked up and it was Aiden.
Aiden. A streak of his of his floppy blonde hair fell onto his eyes, he looked so perfect in all ways.
Why is he talking to me? Is he for real about the "still-be-friends" thing? His girlfriend will not be pleased.
"Hi," I greeted him anyway.
"So... what are you up to?"
"Nothing much, loving life by doing extra maths, yay," I said languidly.
He chuckled, my heart fluttered a bit. "You haven't changed, have you?"
He's the first person who has ever said that after last summer. I changed, everyone felt that, even I knew I've changed. He's the one who changed me. I wanted to laugh because this is so stupidly ironic.
Instead, I twitched up the corner of my mouth into somewhat called a smile, "Maybe." Seeing him is like seeing a part of my old life, he's the prove that the old me existed, the only channel I can connect to her. He was my everything, and still is.
"Having trouble with maths? Let me see," he picked up my math worksheet and scanned thoroughly. I was simply too awestruck by his dimples when he smiled to respond.
"Hi babe, sorry I got you waiting," a hand ruffled my hair and pulled me into him for a hug before he plopped down on the chair beside me. I sniffed a faint scent of chlorine and after shave. Gabriel put his arm around my waist protectively. I stole a glance at Aiden's, his expression was indecipherable. His perfect brows formed a slight frown then looked away.
"This is...?" Gabriel put his arm around me and said. Since when did we become so buddy-buddy?
"Aiden, Gabriel. Gabriel, Aiden," I introduced.
"Hey man, I've got her so you can back off now," said Gabriel egoistically. Why did he have to be a jerk all the time?
Aiden cocked an eyebrow and ignored him. He put down my worksheet and said, "Are you coming to Kate's party this year?"
Is he really that clueless? Or is he trying to humiliate me? "Maybe, I'm not sure. I'm kind of busy," that was totally a lie.
"You should come, we're gonna be all dressed up and have fun, like old times. Besides, it's gonna be huge." He said, flashing his deep dimples, making me blushed uncontrollably.
"I'll think about it."
"So... I guess I'll see you there," Aiden said with a smile.
"Sucking up the school's jock to get to his cock, huh?" Gabriel mocked after Aiden had left.
"Says the manwhore who puts his dick in any kind of hole," I retorted. A flash of hurt crossed his face.
"You're pathetic," he mumbled, not looking at me. His words infuriated me. What right does he have to comment on me?
"What the fuck is wrong with you? Just because something went wrong with your life doesn't give you the right be a jerk to everyone."
"Isn't that what you always think of me? I'm a heartless asshole who cares about nobody but myself. I beat people up because I feel like it. I'd screw anyone with a hole between their legs."
He took my silence as a yes. "You know what? I thought you were better than other people. I thought you would understand, but you have just proven me wrong."
So I watched him walk away.
