Danielle's POV
I woke up the next morning, feeling better rested then I ever had. I sat up and stretched out. The door suddenly opened and I jumped, knocking the red duvet to the floor.
A girl about her age stepped in and apologized, "'M sorry, m'lady. I did not mean to startle you."
Giving her a once over, I accepted the apology and sat up. A magnificent feast was strewn before me. Waving my hand in a gesture of 'go away', I picked up a piece of fruit and bit into it. Wonderful flavors exploded in my mouth and I hummed with content. The rest of breakfast did not last long.

The servant girl was replaced with a man who came in and dressed me. His blush lit up the whole room as he helped me into the dress I had borrowed from Gwen. "What's your name?" I asked as politely as I could.
The servant looked startled and quickly responded, "George, milady."
I smiled at him, feeling quite awkward at the thought of someone serving me. What didn't occur to me was that any man could possibly be so dull.
He followed me everywhere and made jokes about brass, for God's sake. I strode into the throne room to find Arthur and Merlin pouring over a map. They looked up as I walked in and I gave them the scariest glare I could manage. Merlin tried to hide his laughter when he saw who was trotting behind me. Arthur cast an amused smile my way before returning his eyes to the map.
Merlin cleared his throat and said, "George, why don't you show Lady Danielle around the grounds?"
"I think I'll manage, thank you," I countered as politely as I could.

Around 5, I was almost finished wandering the castle and turned my attention to the outside. I could see the training grounds and the forest, but I could feel there had to be sonethng more to it.
I climbed down seemingly endless stairs and went to the East side of the castle, where I had seen the least from the window. Rose petals caught my attention and I followed them. They led me to a beautiful garden, which I assumed Merlin attended to, I could not see Arthur getting his hands dirty.
There were lilacs, roses, Cordelias, and my favorite, tiger lily. I did not dare to pluck a single flower from it's bloom, they looked so precious, so fragile. There was a vine covered bench sitting in the middle and I could see a figure on top of it.
Cautiously taking a step forward, I made my way to where she was. I sat next to her and she looked up at me through long, black lashes. Her startling blue eyes scanned me warily and she flicked her long black hair over her shoulder and grinned, revealing a perfect set of teeth.
I held in a gasp as her melodious voice spoke out, "What brings you here?"
I swallowed, when did my mouth go dry? "Just wandering," I almost squeaked, inwardly cringing at the way I sounded.
She laughed, a beautiful tinkle and tucked a stray piece of hair behind her ear. "Same here," she looked wistfully at the castle, "this was once my home."
"What happened?"
"I-I made a mistake. A very large one. Heed my word, revenge is not always so sweet."
I nodded, transfixed by her beauty. I felt my mouth go dry as she scooted closer to me. He breath tickled my ear, "I must take my leave," she whispered, "Meet me here tomorrow."
I nodded, not trusting my voice. "Goodbye then," I could hear different emotions in her voice. It must have been curiosity and friendship that I heard, I wasn't hearing lust and smugness at my reaction. Nope, no way.
I turned to head back to my room to prepare for dinner when a hand caught my wrist and turned me around. The girl was staring at me from under those long lashes again. "You forgot something," she whispered into my ear.
Leaning in slightly, she brushed her lips against mine, almost as if it were an experiment. I leaned in for more and she pulled away, smirking. "Tomorrow."

I pouted all the way back to my room and saw dinner waiting for me. I ignored my appetite and undressed hastily. I didn't sleep, though. My mind was too busy trying to unravel the mystery of this girl.
