The 1st day:
"Ross, let's not think about leaving right now, let's enjoy these 5 days together!" Laura spoke, trying to discourage the sadness. Ross moved his arm through the cold waters into the crisp air holding her bare cheek. "I love you Laura, why can't they see that! Why do they have to separate us" Laura let a slight tear fall from her already watered eyes and onto Ross' comforting hand. "Ross, let's have fun! Let's ignore that right now" Laura spit the words out fast not knowing how he would react. "How could I ignore it." Ross exclaimed! "Ross, for me..." Laura responded in a tone she knew Ross couldn't resist. "Fine, for you" Ross said. They got out of the springs and wrapped themselves in warm cotton towels to dry off. But you could tell that both of their minds were elsewhere; on the subject of leaving and nothing but.
After they had dried off, Laura drove them to her house. They ran up to her room and started talking about all the memories they had. The laughs, the cries and everything in between. They talked about the first time Ross came to her house when he was eleven and they told ghost stories and Ross taught Laura how to play man-hunt. They talked about their first days of school, how they would sneak out of physical Ed. To kiss under the bleachers. "Laura, I'm going to miss you so much!" Ross said bringing up the sorrow of leaving again. "I know you are." Laura said leaning in. She crawled onto his lap and gently pressed her lips against his letting no air between them. When she pulled away Vanessa was standing in her doorway. "Vanessa! How long were you standing there" Vanni laughed and spoke few words, "long enough" Ross started laughing too and eventually Laura chimed in. "I want to take you somewhere Laura!" Laura followed Ross out to her car. "Ross, are you sure you want to drive, it's not even legal" "I know what I'm doing", he responded in a playful tone. They both jumped in the car and he drove and drove until he reached an open lot that used to be a small playground. But now it was nothing but rusted metal with a broken swing.
"You know where we are right?" Ross said. "How could I not" Laura responded as Ross grasped her hand. "The best day of my life took place here, it's the day I met you." Laura started tearing up as Ross pulled her closer to him. He started playing with her hair in the dim moonlight. But they knew that she had to be home by 10:00pm or the government would put you in jail. It's a faction rule. The curfew is ten. Another reason why Laura hates this society. "Ross, we have to go." "You're right, but I could stay here forever with you. You are my queen." "And you are my king" Ross started to pull her in when she stopped him with her hand. She gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before they started walking to the car. He playfully looked disappointed. They started driving down the dark, empty lanes passing the speed limit signs that lite up the rode. "Ross, it's 9:52, we have to hurry--" He slammed on the breaks and everything went down. One swift turn and the glass had broken into another cars rear. Their adrenaline started pumping knowing that it might be the end. The metal now unrepairably damaged. Ross swung forward and fell unconscious. Laura was strapped hard in her seat belt but still hit her head enough to get a concussion. Car crash. The car tumbled until there wasn't much of a car left at all. The air bags deployed as the car came to a complete stop. Laura looked over to Ross with blood trailing from her mouth to her arms. "ROSS!?" She screamed but nobody could hear her. She screamed so loudly and she knew it, but for some reason she couldn't hear herself. Everything was going in slow motion. Time seemed to stop as she sat in misadventure placelessness. She tried to unbuckled her seatbelt but she couldn't, it was stuck. All she could do was kick and struggle as her almost lifeless boyfriend lay beside her. "Ross," she did her best to turn over, "don't leave me, Ross?!" Her screams turned into whispers as she continued to let the tears stream down her cheeks. She stared at his bloody face. She had never felt this much pain before. She had been beaten, she had watched her mother die, but this was to much for her to endore. The tears just kept coming. It was way past ten when help arrived. The nurses pulled her away as she was screaming his name. All she could hear were voices in her head. ---I'm going to miss you so much--- played over and over. Like a never ending torturous CD stuck on replay. --I'm going to miss you so much-- Laura was hurt but not hurt enough to go to the hospital. The nurse told her to just go home and they would tell her more tomorrow but she refused. She begged them to let her go. But they wouldn't budge. She watched them roll Ross' body on a stretcher and into the ambulance. They drove off leaving her on the side of the rode crying on the floor, the sound of ambulances and heart beats swirling around her mind like a storm, over and over. And the voice of Ross --I'm going to miss you so much--
