After my last few classes I was extremely bored out of my mind, because I already knew all of the things they were teaching me. The only thing that was new were the feelings I had for Adam. As I started thinking about everything that happened that day, and my literature homework, I heard a couple of familiar voices outside my door.
"We can't tell her about who she is yet, Kurt."
"But what about her being a clone, Prof. X, she'll have to know about that sometime soon."
"I suppose you can tell her about that, but it has to be after she gets more settled in, or... Maxine already knows so you won't have to say anything Kurt."
I realize he said the last part telepathically and quickly return to my work before Kurt walks in with Prof. X behind him.
"I see you've been very busy Maxine, can you tell us what you were doing?"
Oh no, I'm already in trouble.
"I... was doing my homework when I heard voices in the hallway and I was just curious so I just thought that maybe I would..."
Honesty's the best policy, right? But before I could continue, Kurt says something.
"Maxi, what you heard outside was all true and I'm sorry that we didn't tell you when you first came in, but we were afraid of how you would react because we've had some negative reactions before you came here."
Wait, no angry voices, or warnings?
"Oh it's fine Kurt, I just didn't even realize.."
Then I remembered what they had been talking about and the questions come pouring out.
"I'm a clone? When did that happen? How old am I? Does everyone know this?"
"Hold on Maxine, you are a clone of Nightcrawler, we aren't sure how long ago this happened, you are 16 years old, and no only the X-Men know."
Prof. X answered and I saw Logan peer into the room.
"Did she find out Charles?"
"Yes, Logan, and we are handling it so please go."
"Ok, Chuck, just wondering."
After Logan left I felt very tired and weak,"Hey guys I'm really tired so I think I'll sleep on this new info and see you in the morning, night."
And I fall into bed immediately falling asleep to a horrible nightmare filled with men with syringes and those white doctor's outfits, except they were covered in a scarlet red.
