Chapter 13: New Students

~~~Maxi's P.O.V~~~

When we get into the prison compound I teleport to the door way and stand right below the camera's line of view until I see the red light blink green and hear a click and the door opens. I teleport past the guards before they even know I was there and turn the corner to see rows and rows of mutants locked behind electrified bars and I tell them that I'm an X-Men and that I've come to help them, when I see Kitty come up from the floor and ask if I need help.

"Sure, you get the left side and I'll get the right side." And we start getting the mutants out. I teleport into the chambers while she disarms the locks. I finish getting all the mutants out and tell them to follow me and Shadowcat.

"Where did Logan tell us to meet up again?" I ask her.

"I don't think he ever told us." She replies.

"Oh, well what about..." then I'm interrupted by a voice in my head.

"Meet us at the back entrance, there will be cover to get all the mutants out."

"Who is this?" I say back to the intrusion in my head.

"Well who do you think Maxi?"

"Emma! How did you get past my mental defense?"

"Oh I've been working on it ever since I met you."

"Great, now I've got a crazy person in my head."

" Just hurry up and get out here so you don't get caught."

"Ok, I'm coming, how are we going to hide all these mutants again?"

"you'll see."

"Ok."

Then we get to the hanger and there's no one there.

"Shouldn't there be guards out here?" Kitty asks.

"I think so, but I don't see any." I hear the mutants murmuring behind us and turn back to shush them.

"I see the Blackbird and several other trucks that should hold the mutants we've rescued, that's what we're going to use."

Then I turn to talk to the mutants, "You guys are going to be riding in the trucks behind that jet, ok?"

I hear several 'Okays' from the crowd and we continue to walk to the vehicles.

"What took you so long?" I hear Bobby say, again.

"Iceman, if this is going to be a recurring thing between us then you are not going to like the outcome." I say back to him and he just smirks. I get into the Blackbird and see the others directing the mutants into the different trucks.

"This has been a good mission, Ja?" I say to Peter, who will be the one driving the Blackbird.

"Yes, but don't jinx it," he says with a half smile.

"I know, I know, but I can't help but feel glad about this, I mean the alarm wasn't even triggered!"

"I'm about to take off, so buckle up."

"Ok."

After about 5 minutes of flying I start talking to Peter again,"Hey, Peter, do you still like Kitty?"

"Um... why do you ask?"

"Because I'm curious about how you still feel about her."

"Well... uhh... I don't know..."

"You do, don't you?"

He sighs in defeat, "Yes I still like her, but she doesn't feel the same."

"Are you sure about that?" I ask.

"Yes, I think she likes Bobby now."

"Really, you think she likes Bobby? That's hilarious because it seems so obvious that she still likes you." I say to him and he peers back at me curiously.

"You think so?"

"Yep, I do think so."

"I will trust you on this one, Maxi," he then says.

When we finally land at the institute I teleport on to the cool ground and see Forge walk into the room.

"I'm so glad you guys didn't completely wreck the jet this time." he says and hugs the Blackbird.

"Ja, it's a good thing Bobby didn't drive it this time."

"Hey, I heard that Maxi!" Bobby says from the other room and I smile. I start to go upstairs and when I get there I see chaos running through the hallways, papers flying, and Logan yelling at Scott, of course, "Hey, Logan, can I help with... all of this?" I point to the hectic craziness around me.

"Yeah, just get the mutants into two lines those who wanna stay and those who wanna leave."

"Ok," then I teleport to the middle of the room and get the attention of everyone there.

"Who is going to stay here?" I ask loudly, and a bunch of mutants raise their hands.

"Alright, then you need to get in a single file line right in front of me, now who is going to leave?" The rest of the mutants get into a second line right next to the other line. I turn to Logan and Scott, "like this?"

They stare at me with mouths and eyes wide open and stop arguing.

"Thanks... Maxi." Scott says, "Do you mind writing down the names, ages, and powers of all the mutants who will be attending the school?"

"No, I don't mind." I reply and Kitty walks by with a bunch of papers.

"Good luck," She saysand walks away.

~~~A couple hours of writing later ~~~

"What's your name?" I ask a little girl who comes up to the table I'm working at.

"Abby, I can turn into a leopard."

"Wow that's pretty cool, how old are you?"

"I'm seven," She says and I see her ears are pointed upwards like cat ears, her eyes are yellow and the pupils dilate, and her canine teeth are sharper, like mine, than a regular human's.

"You know, Abby, I know someone who can take care of you, KITTY!" I yell, and I see her phase through the door.

"Yeah, Maxi?"

"Do you mind taking care of Abby? She's the only mutant under 10 here." I whisper the last part.

"Of course I will, why don't you come with me Abby?"

"Ok, why do they call you Kitty?"

"Because I can sneak really good, just like a cat." Then their conversation gets carried away as they go through a wall together. The next person walks up to my table.

"Hi, what's your name, age, and power?" I ask the next person.

"My name's Katia Amora, I'm 16 and I can record sound and play it back the exact way it was made."

"Thank you, just go to room 186 you'll be sharing it with Ava." Then another person walks up.

"Hello, what's your name, age, and power?"

"My name's Emily Belisle, I'm 17, and I can make people forget things."

"Thank you, just go to room 187," and people keep coming, butthe line has less than 10 people now.

"Hello, what's your name, age, and power?"

"My name is Ashlynn Lebreck,I'm 13 and I can turn into a wolf."

"Thank you, you'll be in room 187 with Emily."

After a couple more people I'm finally done and I got to my room, where Kurt is already asleep.

"Gute Nacht," I say before I drift of into a, thankfully, dreamless sleep.
