"Hi, Maya. I'm Ms.Newman." Said the young brunette phycologist. Maya just looked at her. "Please, have a seat." She sat down, her face still blank.
Don't spill a thing.
"Mr.Matthews has told me a little bit about you. I won't tell your mother about anything we say in here unless you want me to, you are going to harm someone else, or yourself. I want you to be comfortable in here so feel free to stop me if you need to or say whatever you want. Is there anything that you specifically want to talk about?" Maya shook her head, still staring blankly at her, making Lauren Newman a bit uncomfortable. "Okay, then let's start with what happened on Friday night."
"Way to get straight to the point."
"Maya, I've been told that you did not fight coming here. Do you want to be here?" Maya thought for a moment.
"I wish I could want to be here."
"And what do you mean by that?" She shrugged her shoulders. Lauren began with simpler questions for the hour and Maya barely responded. She was trying to get to know Maya so that the could be comfortable and open up but Maya simply stopped responding after a while. After She left, Riley tried to ask Maya how it went but she only said shrugged her shoulders and said 'fine' and proceeded to go home to another night of misery.
She was supposed to go after school on Tuesday and Thursday but did not. Lauren decided to speak to Cory about it.
"Hi, Cory. I just wanted to speak to you about something, really quickly." She said, entering his classroom on Thursday, after school.
"What is it?"
"I understand that your daughter is a close friend with Maya and Maya's mother does not seem to have an explanation as to why Maya has not come the last two times that she was supposed to. Do you know why that might be?"
"She hasn't been going?"
"Nope."
"I didn't know that. I'll ask her. I believe her and Riley are having a sleepover tomorrow night but Maya hasn't been coming too often to that either."
"Okay. Tell me if you know anything."
"I have noticed that she's always getting sick these days."
"Thank you."
"No problem."
--
"Hi?" Said Maya, opening up her door to her apartment on Friday afternoon, just enough to reveal herself as Marcus slept in her mothers room. Riley, Lucas and Farkle stood at the door.
"You coming over?" Asked Riley.
"I can't."
"Why not?"
"I'm not supposed to leave." She was quiet and uncertain as she spoke.
"Says who?"
"You know better then to ask me those questions. I never answer."
"I think that it's time that we get you to." Said Farkle.
"I'm not supposed to leave and I'm not going to. I'll see you Monday." She tried shutting the door but Lucas stopped it with his foot.
"Don't shut us out."
"Move your foot or I will make you."
"Try." She kicked his shin and shut the door the second that he moved it.
"Damn it. Ow." Riley sat down against the wall, disappointed.
"I want her back."
"It's gonna be okay, Riley." Said Farkle, sitting next to her.
"I told her that this hurts me did she didn't listen.
"I think that she is acting this way because she thinks that it will benefit us. Or Maybe she's ashamed of being a victim of child abuse."
"Could she be getting bullied?"
"I've got a close eye on her during school. No ones bothered her." Said Lucas. He turned around and banged on the door. "Maya!" She swung open the door.
"Will you shut the hell up and leave."
"No!"
"I'm serious, Lucas. You need to be quiet right now."
"Why does he need to be quiet?" asked Riley, standing up.
"If I come with you, will you be quiet."
"Fine." Maya slipped on her jacket and grabbed her key.
"Pack for the night."
"Fine."
