Officers ran in, pulling the men off of Shawn and Maya as Maya weakly but quickly pulled her underwear on in just a moment before passing out.
"Maya!" Yelled Riley, running into the room and to her friend. Shawn dragged himself over to the unconscious body.
"Are you okay?" Asked Cory, catching up.
"It doesn't matter, she's not!" He yelled as the paramedics began to push them back and move Maya onto the stretcher. Cory wrapped his arms around his crying daughter.
"Seriously, Shawn, Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
"You're bleeding."
"The pains beginning to subside."
"They raped Maya?" He nodded.
"I tried. I tried to stop him-"
"I know, Shawn. I know that you did everything you could. Let's get to the hospital." They all nodded and headed to the hospital.
--
"Hey." Whispered Riley, as Maya's eyes opened.
"Riley." She said, smiling.
"Hey, peaches."
"You know." She said, her smile dropping as her left arm ached.
"I do." She looked around the room. Cory sat next to Riley, her mother cried in the corner and Shawn sat on the other side of her.
"You're nose." She said to him.
"I know. I look like a clown with this bandage." She chuckled.
"Is it okay?"
"Ya, It's fine."
"Thank you."
"Anytime."
"So, Maya." Maya turned back to Riley. "How are you feeling?"
"Okay, I guess. I'm sorry about the way I was to you."
"I'm not mad."
"Good."
"I'm really sorry, Maya." Said Cory.
"For what?"
"I'm your teacher and teachers are supposed to notice theses things. And on top of that, I see you all the time."
"It's not your fault. It's not like you didn't notice anything, either. You bothered me about it everyday. Thank you. If I wasn't so scared for my mom, I would have been a lot more thankful." He smiled and grabbed her hand.
"And I'm sorry that this happened to you and one other thing."
"I'm a terrible mother." Said Katy. "You did that all for me and I didn't know that it was for me. I didn't know that they did that too you. I knew they hurt you, but I didn't know about that. What if you're pregnant?"
"Birth control pills." She said, quietly, embarrassed. "And you're a great mother."
"Honey?" She looked up at her, letting go of Cory's hand to reach her left aching arm. She looked down at it. It ended at her elbow and was wrapped up. Tears started coming from her eyes.
"I'm so sorry. It was infected." She said. Riley started crying again. Maya was in shock. She didn't have a left forearm or hand.
"It's going to be okay, Maya."
"Where are Marcus and Sam?" She asked, quietly.
"They're in police custody. You'll be able to testify, if you want." Said Shawn.
"I want to." Shawn smiled. She looked back at her arm.
"I can still draw and paint." Everyone in the room smiled.
"You're gonna be okay." Says Riley. "I know it."
