It had been a little over a month since I was shot and things were slowly returning back to normal. I did return back to work & everyone welcomed me back with open arms. Well nearly everyone. Kelly attempted to act as if she was glad I was back but I knew better. She never said anything, but every now and then I would catch her giving me nasty looks or rolling her eyes at me. I simply chose to take the high road and ignore her because I know it's just jealousy. I have what she wants, which is Roman.
Speaking of Roman, things between us have been going okay. I have pretty much been living with him since the shooting but something has been weighing heavily on my mind. Getting shot gave me the opportunity to do some reflecting on my life in the past year and I truly have a lot of concerns. Although I absolutely love Seattle and my job, apart of me is beginning to regret ever moving here and meeting Roman.
For starters, look at how our relationship even started. He blackmailed me into sleeping with him to keep my job. Then he treated me like a hoe, running back and forth between me and Kelly and sleeping with us both. Then the situation with his ex Elena comes to mind. That was one big ball of drama that I had to deal with. But I stuck through it with him. And then the icing on the cake? Getting shot by an ex employee of his who turned out to be obsessed with him. All of these women had one thing in common and that was their obsession with Roman. I don't know what he does to women to make them so crazy over him, but honestly I don't know if I want to stick around and find out.
I love Roman with all of my heart, but I could never love someone enough to go shoot someone just so I can have them. And it's even more alarming because this woman never even slept with him. So I don't even want to imagine what she would have done if he actually fucked her. I just feel like all of these women are seriously dick-mi-tized by him. And it has them going coo-coo for cocoa puffs over him.
At some point, I have to love myself more. I feel like I have always put him first. I want to live my life and be happy and not sit around worrying about if there's someone else out there lurking in the shadows waiting to attack me just so they can have him. Maybe it makes me selfish. I don't know. All I know is that getting shot was the scariest thing I have ever went through. I could have died and although I appreciate Roman for being here for me and sticking by my side through it all, I can't help but resent him and blame him for it happening in the first place.
So now I'm faced with the hardest decision ever:
Should I stay with him or should I leave him?

"This one is actually a set. It's more of a classic Hollywood style diamond. Handcrafted 14k White Gold ring. It features a 1 carat emerald-cut diamond framed in round diamonds. "It's... wow! It's beautiful. It's just...I don't know. I just can't help but wonder if she deserves more. Like bigger. I feel like no ring is good enough for her. I just want her to love it. What do you think Stu?"
"I think you're bloody mad. This ring is gorgeous. Every ring you've seen so far hasn't been good enough for you or Angie. But this is the first one you've looked at that actually made your eyes light up. This is definitely the one."
"How much is it?" Roman asked the jeweler.
"The price on this one is $8,999. But for you sir we can do $7,500."
Roman stayed silent for a moment weighing his options before speaking again.
"Okay. I'll take it."
"Okay then. Any special engraving?"
"Oh yes. 'Nunc scio quid sit amor.' It's Latin for 'Now I know what love is.'" Roman said smiling.
The jeweler smiled and nodded at Roman before scurrying to the back to get the ring ready. Roman went and sat down in a chair as Stu followed.
"You nervous?"
"Alittle."
"Any regrets?"
"Honestly? No. Angie getting shot was terrifying for me. I already knew I loved her but man that really did it for me. I never had that feeling where I felt like I couldn't live without someone. I thought I had that with Elena but my feelings for Angie makes that seem like a summer fling. I really do love that woman. She's my everything. I just want to show her that."
"She knows that man. She feels the same way. I'm happy for you guys."
"Thanks man. You know I talked all of this over with her parents and once they gave me their blessings, I knew that proposing to her is what I wanted to do. I honestly can't imagine being with anyone else. I hope she says yes."
"She'd be crazy not to."
"Her parents seem to think she will. They're flying in. Once they heard I wanted to propose, they said they wanted to be here to witness it."
"Wow. Talk about pressure. That's a pretty big deal eh. How are you planning on doing it anyways?"
"Well, she thinks we are having a company party on Saturday. So I rented out a venue and hired decorators. I'm already going to be there. Layla will escort her there. The theme is sort of like a night in Paris. There's going to be this pathway that leads to where I'm going to be standing. Once she walks in I'm going to do it. I wanted to sit down and have dinner first and all that but her parents will be there. It will just be too hard trying to explain why. So I rather propose first then celebrate afterwards."
"Well if you need any help you know I'm here for you lad. When are her parents coming?"
"They'll be here on Friday. I put them in a real nice hotel right down the street from the venue. Even bought them outfits to wear. It's going to be nice man. Real nice."
"Sounds like it. Guess I need to bust out one of my nice suits then eh." Stu said chuckling.
"Yeah. I bought Angie's dress already. It's beautiful man. I'm going to have a crew come over to my place and do her and Layla's hair and nails. Alittle thank you to Layla for helping me out with the planning and stuff. Plus they can get ready together and it will help lower any suspicions Angie may have about what's going on."
Before Stu could respond, the jeweler walked back out with the ring.
"Okay sir. The ring is ready and we have the engraving on it if you want to take a look."
Roman took the ring and examined it before placing it back in its box.
"It looks great man. Thanks." Roman said before sliding him his credit card.
After Roman signed his receipt, he got his ring and him and Stu left the store.
"Thanks for coming with me today man. I really appreciate it."
"No problem bud. If you need anything then let me know. And good luck. She's going to love it." Stu said before hopping into his car and driving off.
"I sure hope so." Roman mumbled before hopping into his car as well and leaving.
