He stood on the beach, shirt tossed over a bare shoulder, waiting for his clients.

"Quite the fan base, huh?"

"Yeah..."

A long queue had formed on a flat stretch of sand.

"Well, I got to get going."

He jogged down the fun-size dune, and was greeted by a crowd of eager girls.

As one of them clutched Tamaki's hand, almost clinging to him as they walked, a little jealousy upturned my features.

He smiled, the first genuine one I'd witnessed, as three girls shoved their money into his hand. He grabbed it, as if his life depended on it, and presented their magazines.

Shuffling through, counting the coins and bills, he pocketed the fast change he had managed to acquire.

"You're a pretty good salesperson..."

"Well, it's necessary to the host club. The fine china, the costly costumes...you don't believe it's all free, do you?"

"No, I was just saying that you're good at conning people."

"I believe you previously mentioned selling, not conning."

"It was basically the nice way to say conning."

"I don't con, I simply persuade."

"Whatever helps you sleep at night..."

They completed quick volley with some beginner players.

"It's easy, watch."

The two commenced a demonstration, the ball flying between them. However, the girls pulled confused expressions.

"You're not helping."

I swiped the ball mid-air, right before it touched down on Hikaru's wrist.

"Now pay attention."

The crowd nodded, eyes bulging at my displayed talent thus far. I threw up the ball and slammed it towards an anticipating twin. He returned it with a quick set and spike routine. I countered with a powerful fist. And so we went...

By the time our explanation finished, the girls were gone. It was just me, the twins, and some grainy sand. I fell to the floor, back landing into someone's forsaken sand castle.

"Oh well..."

The twins chuckled, the pace of their laughter a complete match. I joined in, enjoying myself more than I had in a long time.

He was strolling the shoreline, with his blonde friend tailing him.

"Takashi!"

The boy was dangling a shellfish between his fingers. Expertly, he tossed it into a faraway bucket.

"Want to join us?"

I began following them, his complete interrogatory sentence amazing me.
As we carelessly walked, a hand found mine. It was rough and callused.

"Mori?"

"Ah?"

I just grinned at him, silently celebrating the small act of affection.

"Arigato."
