Recap (of Chapter 1): Danny Storm, the notorious assassin, is tied to a chair, watching a skinwalker (Shapeshifters that can also look like anyone) try to interrogate her. She knocks the skinwalker out, and Ren comes to the room, saying he has the amulet and it's time to leave.

Danny tell Ren there are to be no survivers, but Ren is conflicted with the killing of innocents. Danny simply reminds them that they are assassins. Ren and Danny kill several of the skinwalkers, and then proceeded through the compound. They find everyone slaughtered, women and children as well. Someone strikes them down (with yellow eyes).

Ren wakes to find the amulet gone. He watches Danny have a nightmare and wonders what plagues her mind. She whispered, "I'm sorry," in her sleep. Just as she always did, according to Ren. Danny reminds him they have to leave to catch the boat. Ren decides he has to stop killing.

The wind was wild, blowing against the sails of the cargo ship vigorously. Danny Storm watched the waves as the storm brewed around her. The clouds were gray as there was a sudden deluge. The assassin drew her cloak inwards, trying to keep out the piercing rain.

She had come up to the deck to get a breather. Ren and Danny had been aboard the ship for over two days. She knew they had to be close to their destination, but still felt anxious of whether they would reach Idor safe and sound. Danny knew their master, Alaric, would be furious with the little productivity of their mission. She could only imagine his distress.

Danny adjusted her black mask, she never took it off in the presence of public. It matched her black hair. The young assassin remembered the day her appearance changed, years ago, when she changed. Danny closed her eyes, replaying all her horrid memories, unconsciously touching her bare ring finger.

"Danny!" Ren yelled over the roar of the storm. His black cloak billowed in the fierce wind and the rain drenched him. Danny looked at him through the wall of rain that seemed to build up. "I spoke with the captain; we're about three miles out from the coast."

Danny simply turned back to the ocean and saw the skyline of her city, Idor. Ren joined her, resting his forearms on the railing with her. They both stared out into the vast ocean. It was things like this that brought Danny back down, reminding her how very small she was in this world.

Ren's eyes drifted to his masked partner, wanting so desperately to rip it off and finally see her identity, but restrained himself. He'd known her for years, but never had he seen her face. Only her pink lips were visible contrasting vibrantly with her sky-bright eyes that always seemed to catch him in the act. Ren thought of her as his best friend, fore she was the only one who gave him the time of day at the guild. The others thought him a boy. He was the youngest assassin at the guild besides Danny herself, but she was a legend. No one knew his name like they did hers.

Danny Storm.

If one person on Ariya heard those two words they would immediately think of the stories that were spread, of all the terror that had been spread throughout countries, of all the men that she had killed and who bore her mark of death. Her targets always had a single mark carved in their skin.

'DS'

Ren had tried for too long to uncover her secrets, and it seemed that just then he came to the realization that he would never know. She would never tell him of her past. No if's or maybe's. He knew for a fact that she would never open up, because she had something to loose. He knew not what it was, but it was there. He saw it in her eyes at times. When certain things were spoken of, he could see it in her sapphire eyes. Pain.
