OKAY WHO WANTS TO LEARN ABOUT TEXAS HISTORY

I SUPPOSE SO

TEXAS HAS A.... HOW DO SAY IT....

IDK HISTORY XD

A brief explanation of its past.

Okay, it started off when Mexico became independent from Spain. Mexico made specific rules for Texas, which was still a part of Mexico.

Then, Mexico was afraid of the American influence into Texas, so they made a law called The Law of April 6th, 1830. It mainly stopped US immigration into Mexico and other things, like froze empresario contracts. This angered the Edwards brothers, which led to the Fredonian Rebellion. The Edwards brothers created the Republic of Fredonia. A month later, the Republic got scattered.

Anyways, then Stephen F. Austin got arrested because the Vice President of Mexico thought he was going to rebel or something. Austin got sent into prison for a year, and then he got released on Christmas Day. He couldn't go back to Texas until the Mexican Government made some decisions for him.

Next is the Battle of Gonzales. In the past, Mexicans gave the people of Gonzales a cannon to protect themselves from the Native Americans, like the Comanche. The Mexicans asked the people of Gonzales for the cannon back, and the people refused. They dug the cannon up, and then the Texans made a flag and showed it to the Mexicans. The flag said "Come and Take It." Literally.

There's the Battle of Goliad, San Antonio de Bexar, and many other events that I am too lazy to say. Texans won Goliad and San Antonio battle.

There's most important battle of the Texas Revolution. The Battle of the Alamo. It was a 13-day siege and on March 6, 1836, the actual battle started around 4 am. About 200 Texan volunteers went against about 1800. What I love about this battle is the Texans didn't surrender; they actually fought against the Mexicans. They knew about the odds of winning, but they showed how much independence they want. At the end, almost every Texan was dead, and around 400-600 Mexicans were killed and/or wounded. Lord.

At February 24, 1836, William B. Travis, during the 13-day siege, made a letter to everyone about getting volunteers. This was his letter:

Commandancy of the The Alamo

Bejar, Feby. 24th. 1836

To the People of Texas & All Americans in the World

Fellow Citizens & compatriots—

I am besieged, by a thousand or more of the Mexicans under Santa Anna — I have sustained a continual Bombardment & cannonade for 24 hours & have not lost a man — The enemy has demanded a surrender at discretion, otherwise, the garrison are to be put to the sword, if the fort is taken — I have answered the demand with a cannon shot, & our flag still waves proudly from the walls — I shall never surrender or retreat. Then, I call on you in the name of Liberty, of patriotism & everything dear to the American character, to come to our aid, with all dispatch — The enemy is receiving reinforcements daily & will no doubt increase to three or four thousand in four or five days. If this call is neglected, I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible & die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor & that of his country — Victory or Death.

William Barrett Travis.

Lt. Col. comdt.

P. S. The Lord is on our side — When the enemy appeared in sight we had not three bushels of corn — We have since found in deserted houses 80 or 90 bushels and got into the walls 20 or 30 head of Beeves.

There was Coleto Creek and Mexicans won and stuff..

Then, the last battle was the battle of San Jacinto. The Texans launched a surprise attack on the Mexicans. After an 18-minute battle, the Texans won.

Jenna, you can correct me XD
