For about the millionth time that evening, I looked at myself in the mirror with a different dress on. Glaring at my reflection, I groaned loudly before pulling the dress off and flinging it across the room. Why did none of these dresses look right? I had more than enough of a collection to choose from, but I didn’t like any of them on. Who knew dates could be so stressful?
My room was a complete bomb-site, loose clothes were scattered all over the floor with other items of clothing piled on top of them. If I’d just felt comfortable revealing a little bit of skin, I could have worn my cute, little black dress. But the dress really emphasised the word little especially with the length of it. Unfortunately, I’d grown over the summer and had grown out quite a few outfits so I couldn’t wear them either.
Tonight, I was supposed to be going for a fancy meal out with my long term boyfriend, Louis Tomlinson. Yes, the Louis Tomlinson, part of world famous boy-band one direction. A part of me disliked that labelling of him because to me he was far more than just a typical boy-band member. Maybe I’m a little biased though? Not that I can help it, it’s the fact I’m his best friend and his girlfriend, it changes the whole perspective of our thoughts on each other. How to describe Louis? Well, he’s hilarious, sweet and so adorable… He’s nothing like what the headlines make him out to be. A cheater for one is an absolutely ludicrous thing to call him. Considering the amount of times he’s declared his love for me, I think it’s safe to say he’s definitely not cheating. Never has done, never will do.
Obnoxiously, the doorbell rang through the apartment and I briefly glanced towards the clock on my wall. 7pm… Shit!
“JESS! LOUIS’ AT THE DOOR!” My room-mate, Jasmine, yelled down the corridor. Currently, I’m studying for an Education degree at university. With Louis being away so often, we thought it would be better for me to just stay on the Uni campus instead of moving in with him. It’s a perfectly acceptable reason and we agreed it was definitely for the best. At least it stops me from being lonely, Jasmine and I have Uni during the day, and sometimes work on the nights. But we mostly stay in and watch girly chick flicks and discuss any random subjects that come to mind.
A light tapping on my door quickly brought me out of my thoughts.
“Who is it?” To be honest, I knew exactly who it was so that was really stupid question to ask.
“Louis, can I come in?” His voice was soft and quiet from the other side of the door.
“Uh, well since I’m in my underwear probably not such a good idea.” I responded playfully, but seriously at the same time. It was kind of inappropriate for him to be in the room when I’m not decently dressed.
He scoffed before saying, “Not like I haven’t seen you naked before.” If I could have thrown something off him at that point in time, it’s most likely I would have.
“I have a room-mate you know, and she really doesn’t need to know about our sex life thank you very much.” My cheeks flushed a deeper shade of crimson.
“Exactly, Louis, she has a room-mate who’s really not interested in what you do in bed, thanks. Oh and ‘she’ has a name.” Jasmine interjected. Oh god. She’d just sassed both of us; something Jas was definitely good at doing.
“Sorry Jas!” I responded loudly. Already, I could imagine Jas on the other side of the door shaking her head and laughing to herself.
“Jess, can I just come in already? I haven’t seen you in like a fortnight.” He tried to make a fortnight sound like a year; we’d been apart way longer than a fortnight before.
Finally I gave in, bored of his nagging, “Fine, but you have to help me decide what to wear… No funny business!” The door clicked open and Louis stepped inside, closing the door behind him. He turned to face me again and his mouth nearly hit the floor. His surprise was quickly replaced by a cocky grin.
