Chapter 17 part 2- Mackenzie

"Mackenzie?"

"Who's Mackenzie?" I asked

"I know you don't remember, but before you had the surgery done I was your boyfriend."

I can't even imagine how he feels

"I-I'm sorry." I said looking down

"They said I wouldn't ever have to see you again. I didn't want you to have the surgery."

"Can we talk about this somewhere else?" I asked

I'd really rather not speak to anyone from "Mackenzie's life"
This isn't about her, and I didn't even know her

Addy just stared at us

"Um, so anyways. I'll get out. See you on Monday, Mel."

She exited the store

"Do you want to talk somewhere?"

He nodded while we left the store together

"It's so weird seeing you alive, after all this time. I never thought I would see you again, Mackenzie." He said while we sat down on a bench

"It's Amelia now." I said quietly

"Oh."

"She was so perfect. She was so passionate, she donated her body to science." He said

"I guess so. What was she really like though."

"Well, she was 17 in her last year of college, she graduated high school when she was 13. She worked at a science lab. Her favorite color was brown. And she always said it was because dogs, rocks, chocolate and her eyes were brown. Her favorite things. She always did things for everyone else's good. She was so selfless it amazed me. I knew one day I would marry her, I told her all the time. But, her job meant too much to her to pass up the opportunity."

I looked into his eyes. He was crying, but I would too if I lost someone like that...

"And this was really random, but I wanted to hear her voice just one more time. I was wondering if maybe we could give this a shot?"
