Chapter 2 (Pain to Comfort)

(Tabitha's POV)  
After that incident I was placed in a spare room at the orphanage, where I was locked up by the people I cared about. Every passing day I could hear people outside saying,

"So the monster has been placed in her cell"

"That girl has no right to be staying here"

"I cant believe we were living with a being like her"

"So this is where the monster stays?"," hey be quiet it might hear you"

They said this with such ease as if I was always a stranger to them.

And I remember every night I cried myrself to sleep inside and out. It was hard for me, a six year old kid already feeling this much pain and yet all the people saw in me was a monster in a form of a human.

------------------------------------------------Two years past------------------------------------------------------------

I got used to the room and the thick rope chaining me in but my inner darkness from the event haunted me so. Every orphan was adopted except me, even those brats Mick and Dan found a family who would love them.

I felt like I would stay in that storage room for the rest of my life but no, the door opened wide once again and Ms. Rosalind appeared behind the door and she said,

"Taby there are people who are here to adopt you, people who can handle your mons-I mean special abilities"

I believed it was a lie but still, what other choice did did I have I wanted to get out of here.

So I accepted and came out of the room only to see three military uniformed men in the waiting room.

"Here she is" Ms. Rosalind said cheerfully, obviously showing that she was happy that I was leaving the other staff did the same, smiling a smile that felt like there going to be free.

"What a lovely little girl" one of the men said as they approached me.

"So this is the child with the special abilities" another man said.

"Thank you, we will be adopting her" the third man said as he took my arm and brought me to a car outside, I sat on the seat of the car and as they left.

And in leaving the orphanage I swear I could hear cheers coming from the orphanage, I sighed as I sat quietly in the car.

Back at the orphanage as she left, a mysterious woman came in and asked for a person with special abilities, all the staff knew who she was talking about about but each of them said the same thing, that they did not know what she was talking about. the woman smirked and said,

"They are all lying, Ren, Tora erase there memories" two people came out and did as they where told.

"As if erasing the memories of those orphans was not tiresome enough" the woman sighed as the three people disappeared like the blowing wind.

(Tabitha's POV)
As if it was a cruel joke of fate everything happened all over again, but it became worse. First after they crushed my trust and love, they chained and locked me in a dark, cold metal cell, a prison where light could barely get in.

Everyday it was hell, training by day till night calling me monster, it and other terrible names.

There only goal and reason of locking me up was to turn me into a weapon of war by forcibly activating my powers by using many methods that felt like endless torture.

------------------------------------------------Two years later---------------------------------------------------------

Winter's  hand had placed itself on the Military camp again, making my prison cell ten times colder than usual but I didn't care, all I cared about was doing me training properly or I'll get whipped or worse making the camp more of a living hell.(like if it wasn't like a living he'll already)

I was about to get ready of a day of pain but it did not happen because of some thing mysterious outside.

At the general's office, the general was talking to his private about her training until someone knocked on the door, when they opened the door the saw a beautiful woman in about 26 years old. The woman asked the general a question that shocked him,

"I am looking for a person, a person with special abilities, do you know where I can find this person. The general knew who she was talking about and to protect their research he said no.

"Your lying" the woman smirked then grabbed him by the neck slowly chocking him and said,

"Tell me, where is the person I am looking for!" she tightened her grip on him. The general was full of fear and in order to save his life he not only gave the info but also gave her the keys to Tabitha's cell.

"Thank you for your kindness general" the woman giggled leaving the blacked out general and the traumatized private in the room. As she got out of the room, she called on two people watching from the sidelines'

"Ren,Tora as usual erase the staff's memory, while I'll go look for our target" the two did as they were told,  then the woman hurried to Tabitha's cell.
(Tabitha's POV)
When she found the cell, she unlocked it only to see me, a young girl in rags covered in bruises and chained to the floor.

In fear I glared at her giving her the message to stay away but she did not, instead she approached the girl and asked me,

"You are the girl with special powers, are you not?"

"Yes so what, are you here to make me your weapon or something?" I growled.

"Sort of, but it is so we could protect the people.." I was enraged at this so I cut her sentence short.

"Why, do I have to protect those bastards!!!, all they gave me was pain and suffering!!" I screamed.

"But there are people worth protecting" she replied.

"Prove it" I growled at her.

"To prove it I will give you a home with me and kids with powers just like you, just give some time to show you the good in people and if your not satisfied I will set you free to do whatever you want" she said sincerely as she unlocked my shackles.

I looked at my unshackled limbs and gathered all my remaining trust and agreed,

"Fine, my name is Tabitha by the way, but you can call me Taby" I said as she took the woman's hand. She gave me a smile and responded,

"That is a beautiful name, my name is Jessica Merli" as we started to walk to the camp's entrance, I asked,

"Umm..,where are we going?, I-I want to meet those kids you were talking about" I said with excitement but I was still afraid as where I was going was a mystery to me.

"Oh, we have to go to the other dimension to meet them" she said.

"A-another dimension?" I asked in confusion.

"We will properly educate you soon" she said.

"Why did it take you so long to find me?" I asked.

"It is because your powers are new to us, so it was hard to track you"she replied. When we got outside, two people were waiting for us.

And next to them was a swirly portal.

"W-what is that?" I said in fear.

"Its a portal that will take you to your new home, are you ready?" She asked me.

"Yes" I responded as we all walked into the portal, a portal that led me to a new chapter of my life.
