Niall’s POV:

Nani and I laid there engulfed in each other’s arms as her warm body was pressed against my bare chest. My arm was draped around her waist and she rested her hands on my chest as she looked up at me. She looked up at me with big brown eyes and gave me a silly cross eyed grin that made me chuckle.

I bit my lip as I could see the dawn becoming brighter as the sun shone through the trees by the bedroom window. I never wanted this moment right here to end. Right now, nothing else in the world mattered except me and Nani. Not Harry, her ex-boyfriend, my past, not even the urge to harm myself bothered me right now. All I cared about was the beautiful girl in my arms. For us, time was non-existent in this moment.

Neither one of us dared to make a sound for the longest time before I finally decided to break the silence. “Nani…. tell me something about yourself. Tell me what you are like when you haven’t been kidnapped by some crazy person.” I said softly.

She smiled and rolled onto her back but stayed in my arms. She rested her head on my chest with a cute thinking face. “Well I like to cook, I like to draw, I like making people smile, um I don’t party that often but I do like to have fun, and I play piano and sing for a living.” She said with a smile.

There was that word again: ‘singing’. I furrowed my eyebrows at it and she noticed. “You honestly don’t know what singing is… do you?” she asked with a soft voice layered with disbelief.

I shook my head and sighed. “When I was younger I uh… I lost my memory in an accident. Since then I haven’t really had the time to sit and remember the sweet things in life. What exactly is it?” I asked as I drew small circles on her stomach.

She sighed. “Where do I even begin…” She said with a chuckle as she scooted closer to me. Well singing is something that you do with your voice to kind of add a musical tone to words. There are a lot of different types of singing too. But as a singer, you try to impact your listeners in some way. It’s like a new form of poetry. Does that make sense?” she asked as she looked up at me.

I nodded slowly and continued drawing imaginary circles on her stomach as I closed my eyes. “Nani will you sing for me?” I asked with a nervous tone. I remembered when she sang for the first time while she was here and she calmed me even though I was anxious. I wanted to see if her singing would always do that.

I felt her nod as she slowly began to sing. Her voice was sweet and gentle as she sang angelic melodies. I smiled and opened my eyes as I looked over at her. Her voice was still so relaxing. I could see with my eyes that she was singing with her lips but I knew in my heart that somehow she was singing with her heart. This was her passion.

I looked at her in awe as she finished her song. “That was beautiful Nani…” I said softly. She looked up at me once again as happiness danced in her eyes. Her voice was beautiful, her soul was beautiful, her eyes were beautiful, her smile was beautiful, just everything about her cried out beauty.

She was like this beautiful ray of sunlight in this dark and lonely life and I never wanted her to leave. I couldn’t let her slip away from me.
