I stumbled back against the cage door, utterly drained. It felt as though all the life had been siphoned from me. My gaze shifted to Quinn, who sat on the floor with her head bowed and eyes closed. All she could do now was rest. I turned and called for Lachlan, my voice weak but audible enough for him to hear.
After a few moments, he appeared at the bottom of the stairs, surprise evident on his face. "How are you? Damn, look at your chest!" he exclaimed.
"I'm alive. Just get me out of here and keep an eye on your mate. She needs her rest."
"What?!"
"You thought I didn't notice? Lachlan, I saw the way you looked at her and how eager you were to go with them to the full moon room last night. Plus, I noticed your concern for her at the party—it was more than just friendly. You know I'm supposed to pick up on these things. I'm not sure if you two are fully mated yet, but something definitely happened between you."
He chuckled awkwardly. "I wasn't sure it really happened since she was still human, but I think it did last night."
"Congratulations, bro." I smiled genuinely, happy for him. Lachlan was one of my best friends and a great guy—perfect for Quinn.
"Thanks, man." He opened the cage door, and as I stepped out, I almost stumbled over my own feet. "Damn!" I hissed as Lachlan caught me.
"You're cold, you know that, right?" he said.
"Well, I don't exactly feel great," I replied, sarcasm lacing my words. He shook his head and laughed.
"Where are Greyson and Archer?" I asked.
"Upstairs, cleaning up," he said.
"Cleaning up? Why?" I frowned.
"Because everything made of glass in the house broke. Your roar didn't just wake everyone; it shattered all the glass too."
"Oh." I was taken aback. I hadn't expected that level of chaos.
"Greyson!" Lachlan called. A few moments later, Greyson appeared at the bottom of the stairs.
"Yes?"
"Help him up. I'll take Quinn to a guest room."
Greyson nodded and moved to stand beside me. "You look messed up," he remarked.
"Thanks, jerk," I rolled my eyes.
He smirked and draped my arm over his shoulder, wrapping his own arm around my waist. "Ready?"
I nodded, and together we began the trek up the stairs.

We were busy cleaning up the house, starting in the kitchen with Marley, Arabella, Jayden, and me. The shattered glass covered the floor, so I slipped on a pair of gloves.
"Thanks to your man, this place looks like a glass bin," Stella remarked, leaning in the doorway.
"Well, at least you don't live here," I shrugged. Jayden and Marley chuckled, while Arabella simply smiled. "Oh, whatever, girl," Stella said as she walked away. "You got her good," Jayden said, grinning.
"So, now that Quinn is joining the pack, is Daphne coming along too?" Arabella joked. We all laughed.
"No way. We'll have to keep that a secret from her. I don't want her tangled up in this drama," I replied.
"What if that's Roman's next move?" Jayden suggested.
"I don't think so. I suspect his next target is Isaac," I said.
