So I promised myself I would update when I reached 400 reads and 5 votes on the last chapter. This one might seem a little rushed. Here it is anyway. Sorry for any mistakes!!

Chapter Eight

— • —

It had been three days since I had first met Gemedes, and today was my assessment of defense. The past couple days were spent with many hours in the dirt circle in human form, with Gemedes in his dirty kilt yelling at me. I hadn't seen much of Aramis, except for in the mornings and evenings when we would go to bed. He stayed quiet, sensing my silent rage about his intended from the South. Instead of hitting him like I so desired, I hit Gemedes, who had learned since day one to keep me away from his family jewels. I wanted to start offensive fighting but he wouldn't let me until I knew how to block.

"Again," Gemedes snarls, his fist sailing toward my cheek. I dodge and grab his wrist in my palm, twisting it at an angle that his body follows. He goes to elbow me in the side as he falls, but I sink my nails into his bicep and he growls, meeting the dirt.

He swirls his legs around, arching his spine so his foot meets my shoulder. I let go of him, instinctively clutching the injured joint. He springs to his feet.

"Ow!" I yell, glaring at him. He rolls his eyes.

"Suck it up, pup," Gemedes growls again," if that were a real fight and you whimpered and held yourself like that you'd be dead in two seconds."

I glare at him still. My wolf is insulted. She is far from a pup.

He walks away as I snarl, charging at him. He turns and steps out of catch, but I run at him again.

This time he catches my wrist, twisting it forcefully until it bends to the pressure with a sickening snap. I screech and hold my hand to my chest in agony.

Gemedes eyes me warily, standing still. Other fight circles stop to see what's happened.

"You dick," I pant, crumpling to the ground as tears sting my eyes.

I hear the back door to the manor smack open, a figure running toward us.

Aramis.

He looks pissed as hell.

"Caelia," he kneels beside my crumpled form. "Caelia, what's wrong?"

I hold my wrist tenderly and whimper, tears streaming down my cheeks. It hurts so damn much.

Aramis growls in frustration, carefully pushing me into his chest. He turns to Gemedes. "What the hell happened?"

"I dislodged her pisiform," Gemedes says casually.

What the hell is a pisiform? Whatever that is, it's painful as fuck. I shake against my mate's body. Aramis rises slowly, leaving me to look up at him with watery eyes.
