Out of all the possible scenarios I've envisioned, how is this the one that makes us late? It took 15 minutes to investigate on the DJ system, and we are all darting through flocks of people to reach gate C26.
..
Waiting in line is the most difficult for me. With 7 minutes remaining and sluggish security guards, nothing could be worse. I lean over to Cameron and whisper into his ear,
"Do we really have to do this? I mean, we're kinda late." Cameron gives me that look, the look you'd give to a nutty person. Yeah I was considering skipping the line, but there are people everywhere. Matt watches as Cameron and I exchange whispers, his face in a deep scowl. I don't know what he's had for breakfast, but whenever Matt is not within his clutch, he seems grouchy. First up is Jack J with the equipment, then his bags. Let's get this over with. The guard lifts the bag, the sets it on a scale. My heart beats faster, knowing the words coming next.
"Yeah, um, this is suspiciously heavy, so I your going to have to remove some items."
Jack J was probably already pissed, and now he's snapping out all his energy on a security guard. He waves the special blue ticket in front of him as he talks. Way to set us back.
