"I have amazing news for you mom!" I exclaimed into the phone as soon as I heard the click of her answering.
My mom chuckled before asking, "What is it?"
"Luke proposed to me! We were walking in Bakers Park and then we went to the stage. You remember the stage right? Of course you do. Anyways, I was looking towards the seats and then I turned around and he was on one knee and then-"
"Take a breath honey! Luke, your father and I met up a few weeks ago so he could ask for our approval."
"You knew all along and didn't tell me?!" I exclaimed in shock, playing with the diamond encrusted ring on my finger.
"No. I told you but alien's took your memory away so you can't remember the conversation," my mom retorted back sarcastically.
"Anyways, we're going to have the wedding next summer. We're going to start planning next month or something like that."
"Sounds good with me. Keep in touch. You haven't talk to us in forever," my mom said, letting sadness leak in her voice.
She does not love you. Or miss you. You should've killed her and your father years ago when I told you to.
"I have to go. Love and miss you go guys," I said quickly before hanging up.
I sat my cell down on the bed side table and lied down, staring at the ceiling. My bottom lip suffered from the grip of my teeth until I felt a little relieved that the voice had nothing else to say.
"Was that your mom on the phone?" I heard Luke call out from the kitchen.
I took a deep breath and put a smile on my face as I got up, making my way to the kitchen.
"I can't believe my mom and dad were able to keep that from me! I'm surprised you lasted without spoiling it earlier," I laughed, smacking his back lightly.
My arms wrapped around his waist, my head resting against the middle of his back. I inhaled his smell, smiling lightly to myself.
"What can I say? I'm good at keeping secrets," he said with a chuckle.
You here that? He's good at keeping secrets. Maybe he's been cheating on you.
My hands clenched into his shirt as my body tensed.
"You alright Lyla?" Luke asked, setting down the knife he was using to chop bell peppers.
"Just fine," I mumbled, taking a deep breath.
"No you aren't," he said as he turned around in my arms, using his right hand to cup my face.
This is the perfect opportunity! Knee him in the groin then reach for the knife and-
"Did you hear me?"
I blinked several times and looked back into the hazel eyes that were peering down at me.
"Sorry. What did you say?" I asked through clenched teeth.
"First, loosen your grip."
I then noticed that my nails were digging into his back and I quickly let my hands drop down beside me limply.
"Now, talk to me. What's wrong?"
"I'm fine."
"What's wrong?" He asked again, his left hand taking a hold of my right one.
I sighed and opened my mouth to lie.
"I'm just a bit stressed. I started thinking about how much it'll be for the wedding and if we even have that money."
