"Kaylee?" Landon asked as he stared into her dark chocolate-colored brown eyes.
Kaylee hummed a song from one of her favorite anime openings. "Ya?" she eyed the Dr. Pepper on one of the fridge shelves while her chin rested on her arm.
Landon set down a gallon of milk on top of her foot which she kicked over near immediately while continuing to hum the song. "Can you tell me why, exactly, you're sitting in the cart? Is it too hard for you to not act like a child?"
Kaylee rested her chin on the palm of her right hand and gazed at Landon, who was returning her stare as he waited for a logical answer. Something he wasn't ever going to get. "Maybe," she grinned and reached her hand out for the Dr. Pepper in the fridge. "If you get me that!"
Kaylee, in a nutshell, could be best described as an "Oddball". Landon considered her to be way out of his league, a woman that a guy like him would only be able to find in his dreams. However, outside of her model-like looks, she had what would be considered by most, weird obsessions. She loved Anime and the entirety of Japanese culture itself. The only thing she would drink was Dr. Pepper. She was addicted to the drink in the truest form of the definition.
Along with all that came some of her quirks. Quirks that, even if Landon didn't mind them, would grind people's gears to no end. Kaylee was loud and spontaneous, often suddenly bursting out in laughter for no reason, and the same went with screaming; there was no reason for it, she just did it. Simply, she was loud, weird, and maybe even a little crazy, depending on who you asked.
Landon, however, loved Kaylee for all of that and for everything else. He loved her for all of her quirks and weirdness. He loved that laugh, her screams, the soothing light rasp, and the almost angelic tone of her speaking voice. Her psychotic episodes of screaming in anger over something trivial, her grin, that craziness, or even the nearly deafening yells that went hand in had with those said psychotic episodes. Landon loved it all, the good, the bad, and the just plain weird.
At the end of the day, Kaylee was Landon's sunshine, and likewise, Landon was Kaylee's world. In Landon's eyes, Kaylee was the epitome of everything beautiful, funny, and weird. Not a day would go by without Landon thinking of the smile that gave her eyes the shape of a crescent moon. He loved Kaylee, and the fact of the matter was simple. Landon couldn't live without her, no matter how much he could try to deny it. She was his one and only. There was no one else.
Landon laughed. "The whole bottom shelf of the fridge is taken up by Dr. Pepper, you can wait until we get home."
"I want it now!" Kaylee kicked the side of the cart and looked at Landon with wide eyes. "Pleaaaasee?"
Landon was defeated. He couldn't say no to her, especially so with her given expression. Kaylee could ask him, though she wasn't the type, to run around clucking like a chicken and he would probably do it. Call it 'blind love,' call it 'being whipped,' but that was what Kaylee loved most about him: his unconditional, unwavering love for someone like her. The same someone that would have been so far gone without Landon.
Landon inaudibly mumbled, deciding to give in to her begging. "Fine," he sighed tiresomely. "Just put that face away."
He opened the door of the fridge and pulled out one of the Dr. Pepper bottles, but before he could fully turn, the bottle had already been swiped from his hands. Landon turned, and by then, Kaylee had already chugged down half of the bottle. With her lips around the tip of the bottle, she let loose a crooked smile as she stared at Landon.
Kaylee tightened the lid on the bottle, grinning, as she set it down and stood up in the cart to bring her face closer to Landon. Her lips inched closer and closer until they were only inches away from his cheek. Then her tongue came out and licked his cheek. "Nyaa!" she squeaked.
