Val took in a deep breath before knocking on the door three times. She bit back tears from previous events, readying herself to admit to Sam.

Sam was inside crying. He really missed Val and wanted to cuddle up to her.

It was a cold night too so that idea sounded amazing to him.

He stood up from the couch wiping away his tears before answering the door.

And there she stood, with tears falling as well and a slightly swollen face. Val's mother sure had a right hand.

"Val?" Sam whispered in disbelief. His eyes were wide and his heart felt like a weight had been lifted.

She grabbed him into a tight hug, silently crying into his shoulder. The past week had been very distressing for the both.

He held her so tight, he was scared she was going to break. She held him so tight hoping he wouldn't break either.

They eventually broke apart and sat themselves on the couch huddled up.

"What happened to your face?" Sam whispered, finally registering her swollen cheek. She sighed letting another few tears fall.

"My mum hit me. She hit me because I was crying about you and how she said I could never see you again" Val whispered cuddling close with Sam.

He held her tighter, wanting to now protect her. He knew what he was doing know was bad. He knew there would be a big consequence if anyone found out.

But he did it anyway.
