"So Clance, what happened in the end. Don't completely spoil it for me, just...give me a hint." Clancy rolled his eyes. The two friends were sitting on a wall on Amster Green, chatting with their bikes propped up against the railings. They were waiting for Del, Mouse and Red, so they could start up an attempt to master tennis.
"It was cliche, like most shows nowadays, true love is the answer to all and stuff like that." Ruby raised an eyebrow.
"Actually, love is one of the most common reasons for murder in the world." Clancy sighed.
"I know, but I wish for once on these shows that something unexpected would happen. Something that surprised me." Ruby chuckled.
"Clancy, you're surprised by almost anything." Clancy nodded and thought for a while.
"Then I wish something happened that would surprise you." Ruby smirked.
"Nothing surprises me buster." Clancy narrowed his eyes.
"That's not biologically possible." Ruby leapt on his claim.
"Go on then," she said, crossing her arms.
"Do something that surprises me." Clancy laughed nervously.
"I really don't know-"
"I dare you." Interrupted Ruby. "You're my best friend, if there was anyone who knew how to surprise me, it'd be you." Clancy turned away, apparently deep in thought. Then in a quick movement, spun around, grabbed Ruby by the shoulders and kissed her for the longest few seconds in Ruby's life. When he pulled out, he said,
"Surprise enough for you?" With heavy breaths. Ruby didn't have to speak. Her face said it all. They sat in silence on the wall for a long time.
"Why did you do that?' Asked Ruby quietly. Clancy shrugged.
"You dared me to." Ruby didn't let Clancy see a small smile spread across her face.
"I did ask for it didn't I."
"You sure did." And then the two began to laugh, nervously at first, then it gained strength and even when the others arrived with their rackets to head to the courts, they kept laughing.
"What?" Asked Del, who hated to be left out of anything.
"Nothing." smiled Ruby and as they all walked to the courts in the wonderful fresh late afternoon sun, Ruby couldn't help to be happy that she was alive.

Just wanted to test out the Ruby/Clancy dynamic, I want it to be as realistic as possible to you, if you don't like it like that, we can just leave it as a one-off kiss, which would quite easily fit in to the story, no problems, but if you like it, I can build on it slowly with Ruby thinking about it more and more often, which also fits well into the storyline. Both of these ways work and I'm fine with working with either, but if you want me to quicken the pace a bit or keep the slow build up let me know.
