Alkira's pov-

"What!!!"

I closed my eyes and sighed. James never knew how to keep his mouth shut and as usual I got in trouble because of it.

My eyes got wide seeing the dreadful sight in front of me. Samuel, Xavier and Daimen were at the verge of changing into their wolves. They were clenching their jaws and grinding their teeth. In fact Helen too was trying very hard to control herself.

I glared at James and mouthed that they were not supposed to know that.

Now what will they think of me? I was not sure how to react to it. My mind shut down and my emotions went haywire. I felt exposed and vulnerable. He has opened up a part of my life that was buried deep in the bottom of my heart. This was a touchy subject to me that nobody was aware of. Only once this topic came up. It was after a few weeks I got out of the hospital after I saved Samuel.

It was Friday night and we were celebrating Helen's birthday. We all were sitting around the fire in a big circle happily chatting with each other when out of nowhere someone asked if anyone believed in soul mates or not. Everyone voiced their opinion.

Unwanted, fake memories flooded my mind. They reminded me of the time with my mate when he took me out to fancy dinner dates and charmed me with his sweet talks. How he betrayed me and my family and broke my heart.

I did not even notice that it was my turn to answer. Ana nudged me slightly and asked me what my opinion was. When she noticed my red eyes and tear soaked cheeks she asked me what happened. I was too distressed to answer her so I simply shook my head, got up and walked away to get a hold of my emotions.

After that nobody said anything about mate when I was around for a long time. I eventually learned to control my emotions when I was around people.

Only Helen and Ana had their suspicions about my mate. They probably thought that he died in that war. If only that was true. They never asked me and I never explained.

Now this news was a blast from past that blew me away completely. I started getting flashback of my days with him. Everything came back rushing to me. I could not cope up with this. I started feeling dizzy. I heard some voices but was not able to make out what they were trying to say. My head spin and soon darkness engulfed me.

It was dark and my head felt slight heavy. My stomach growled and I felt famished. But other than that I felt alright. Slowly I tried to open my eyes. After few seconds I finally succeeded and got adjusted to the darkness. I was in a barely lit room. The only light coming inside was the moonlight.

I looked around and figured out that it was my room and I was alone. I really wonder if it will ever happen to me that after my fainting when I open my eyes I am surrounded by lots of people.

I grabbed the glass from the bedside table and dropped it. It was made of steel so it did not break but served my purpose.

I counted to three in my mind and soon enough the door was opened forcefully and smashed against the wall. It was god's grace that it did not come off. There stood Daimen, Ana, Helen, Samuel and Xavier with a new addition of James to their freaky group. All were breathing heavy and speaking at once.

I whistled and everyone shut their mouth.

"I am fine guys. Now tell me who brought me here and stop freaking out."

"You scared the hell out of us".

It was Xavier who spoke. His voice was unusually heavy and he was breathing hard.

"It was me who carried you here and called the doctor. He is waiting in the guest room for you to wake up. Let me call him."

Saying that he went off to fetch the doctor. It was weird. That is first time I had seen him like this. My mind could not find the exact word to describe his state.

"He is nervous."

Yup that was the word I was trying to find.

"But I do not know why. This is the first time I am seeing him like this. He is very calm and dealing with this kind of situation is nothing new to him. But since you are our Alpha that is why he panicked a little."

Helen was right. I was just over thinking.

"When was the last time you ate?" Asked Ana as she made her way to bed and sit beside me.

"I too want to know the answer to that question Alpha."

I noticed that Xavier too arrived with doctor but he was not looking at me. I made a mental note to ask him about it later and answered the good doctor.

"Dr. Daniel. Seeing that it is night I think I ate something yesterday in breakfast."

"And what was that?"

"Half sandwich." I answered cautiously.

"Pray tell me why Alkira Adrianne Moore."

I cringed. It was clear that she was pissed at me.

"Well you know that yesterday was special training day and I was busy with all the plans that I rushed off with my breakfast. In lunch I was at my hiding place where they were to find me. And after that I directly went off to see James. And when I returned I was so tired that I went to sleep just as my head hit the pillow.

Today in the morning I was trying to find Ana so I forgot about the breakfast. Then it was meeting time and Ana met her mate. She tried to reject him and I cleared the mounting confusion that I do not love him. He is my best friend and as two of them are mate I am at cloud nine. So Ana you are not rejecting him right." I tactfully changed the topic and looked at her with wide innocent eyes.

"No. In fact he told me that he forgave me for my little misunderstanding. And we kissed too. Let me tell you that it was amazing. The best kiss of my life. My first kiss as a-"

"No need to tell that in front of everyone. You can tell her in private. Please."

James was embarrassed. His cheeks turned a little pink. I was enjoying it.

"Pink sure suits you Jamie." I cooed but sobered up remembering that he had a bruised jaw.

"By the way how did you get that bruise on your jaw?"

"When you left my mind kicked in gear and I remembered Ana's stricken look. My instinct took over and I ran after you. Daimen blocked my view and when I tried to side step him Xavier punched me. It was Helen that came to my aid and I was able to leave that room." He finished with a grin and my mind ease off the worry that his feelings might have gotten hurt.

"Mama knows what you are trying to do. You are not getting out of it by diverting our mind. When will you learn to eat your food properly? You are not five.

Tell me do you want me to feed you. Because if you keep up with this- skipping your food and acting like a toddler then I will definitely put you up in high chair and spoon feed you myself. And yes I am threatening you. I don't care if you are an Alpha. Health comes first." Hands on hips, Helen continued to chide me and finally relaxed when she thought I have had enough.

"Okay. I will eat properly. You don't need to spoon feed me."

"Well. It was nice seeing an Alpha getting scolded by former Luna. But now I have to check her so if you will just give me a minute."

He checked my pulse and then went with his routine. After fifteen minutes of him poking me here and there and asking questions he left the room saying I was alright. He gave me painkiller for my head and asked me to eat properly.

It was silence and I was afraid. They will ask questions and I have to answer them as I can't keep the secret to myself any longer. They had taken seat around my bed and it looks like I was in for a night. It was story time.
