Ezra's POV

I was out on a supply run when I heard sniffling behind some crates. I pushed one of the crates over. There was a little girl cuddling a small toy and, crying into her sleeve. I reached out to pick her up and she coward away from me. "Hey, it's okay. Come here. What's your name little one? How old are you?"

"Melody Sesslyn. I'm five."

"Where are your parents?"

"The Empire."

My hate for the Empire grew ten times at that very moment. "Come here." I picked up the girl and started making my way out of town.

Kaci's POV

Ezra came back from the supply run I had sent him on, not with the supplies but, with a girl. "Ezra! How hard is it to just go out, get what we need, and come right back?"

"She was left alone and," He lowered his voice to a whisper. "She's force sensitive."

"Ezra are you sure?"

"One hundred and twenty percent sure."

"Alright."

The Mandalorian we have on board came flying down the ladder. "Hey, Ezra."

"Hey Jak-"

He was interupted. "What is that?!"

I jumped into the conversation. "It's a child. I'm pretty sure it's not that hard to figure out."

"Yeah, I know that but, why is it here?"

"I don't know. Why don't you ask your father that one?" Our crew often referred to us as there "parents."

"So, dad why is she here?"

"She was all alone. She's only five. I just picked her up off the streets."

The Mandalorian bent down to introduce himself. "My name is Jaku Starfall. I'm from Mandalor. I was five when my parents were taken, too. I grabbed my older brother's armor, which was set aside because he was killed the year before, and then I snuck onto a transport ship. It landed here. I lived my life on the streets. When I was old enough I put the armour on. What's your name?"

"Melody Sesslyn."

"Well, Melody. can I call you Mel? Great. Well, Mel you and I are going to be best friends."

He patted her on the shoulder. Squeak came rolling around, followed by a small, blue lasat. "Hey, I heard we were introducing ourselves to someone. Who?"

Melody moved forward. "Melody Sesslyn."

He stuck out his hand to greet her. "Ralla Yavok."

She giggled. "You're soft." She said stroking his arm. She giggled and he laughed lightly. "Thank you."

I spoke up once more. "Where will she stay? Yes, we have one empty cabin left but, what if we need it later on?"

"She can stay there. It'll be fine."

"Alright, alright. Fine."

Ezra took her up to the cabin and, sent everyone else to their cabins, too.

We went to bed and, followed Ezra to our cabin. I changed into the clothes I sleep in. Ezra was changing when I turned to him. "You never did answer my question earlier."

"What?"

"How hard is it to go out and, do one thing? All you had to do was find some spare droid parts."

He wrapped his arms around my waist. "Now, if I did that our family would be boring."

"Yeah, yeah that's right."

"I love you."

He pulled me closer to his bear chest. He slid his bottom lip along my neck. A shiver ran up my spine and, he followed it up with a kiss on my collarbone. Then, my jawline.

"Ezra, not now."

"Why not now?"

"I'm tired."

"You're tired? I'm the one that went out on the supply run."

"Yeah, and didn't even do what you were supposed to!"

We both laughed. I ran my hand down his bear torso and, back up to his shoulders. I put my hands on the back of his neck. "I love you, Ezra Bridger."

"I love you, too Kaci Melody Bridger."

We both fell asleep late that night, unable to process the events of the day we just encountered.

Ezra's POV

I woke up and, went to find Kaci. I found her sitting silently in the cockpit. "Morning."

She never turned to me. "Ezra, I've been wondering."

I sat next to her. "Yeah."

"Are you ever going to contact Kanan? It's been three years. You left when you were seventeen and, I fifteen."

"Maybe he should apologize and, I'll talk to him. I can't believe what he did to me."

"I never heard the full story. What did he do?"

"He blamed me for the death of innocents on a routine op, that was only supposed to be a grab and run. I set the detonators to early. Kanan was busy getting the whole society out when they went off. Forty-nine men, women, and children. All dead. It's not all my fault. I didn't set them to early. I set them thirty seconds to early. Kanan calculated the time wrong. Thirty more seconds would not have gotten all forty-nine people out. I felt awful! I had already blamed myself."

"What Kanan do about it?"

I calmed my composure. "He hit me in the head, knocking me down, and yelled at me. I was backed up against a wall and he kept on yelling. It wasn't so bad at first but, he never let it go. He never let me go on any missions after that."

"Ezra, I hate to tell you this but, one day you're gonna have to contact him sooner or later."

We both turned around when we heard sobs coming through the door. "Daddy, I had a bad dream!"

I picked Melody up and. "Calm down."

Kaci grinned. "Looks like she's already warmed up to you."
