Ezra's POV

The rest of my crew doesn't know it, but every night I leave to do work for a smuggler by the name Gul Cadav. He works downtown in Kothal. I move through the dark silently to his rundown building. I step in and the short, chunky old Rodian steps out from behind his desk. Not even looking at me. "You're late."

"Sorry, but I need the pay today."

"I said you needed to be on time for all three days to get payed in full today. You were late on your third day, and today."

"I really need the credits."

"I missed the part where that's my problem."

I stormed through the doors to the front corridor with empty hands, as another man stepped in Gul's main room. I heard shouting while I continued to the front of his building. As I reach the front doors, I hear running behind me. When I turned around, I saw Gul chasing the other man, who was carrying three bags full of credits.

Gul was shouting, "Stop him! Thief!"

I stepped out of the man's way, and he ran out. As the doors were closing he looked back at me. "Thanks!"

Gul approached me. "What was that? You could've stopped him. He took my money."

I smirked at him, and crossed my arms across my chest. "I missed the part where that's my problem."

He glared at me as I turned and exited the building. I moved through the fields to the Banshee. As I entered Kaci stepped in my way. "Where have you been?"

I lied to her, "Getting some fresh air."

"That's a lie."

"No, really I was."

"Liar. Tell the truth."

"I was doing some smuggler's dirty work."

"You get payed?"

"No."

"Why not?!"

"He wouldn't pay me."

She grabbed her blaster and lightsaber. "I'm going there right now."

"No! No women in his shop."

"Oh, yeah? Watch me."

She started walking towards Kothal, and I followed. We made it into town and she stopped in her tracks. "Which building is his?"

I nodded my head towards the entrance of the old, rundown building. She stepped in and Gul perked up. He walked around her, and I got nervous. He finally spoke up, "Well, well. Look what we have here. I think my next smuggler's run will be to Tatooine."

Kaci grabbed her lightsaber, split it in half, and placed it across Gul's throat. "Oh, really? And why would you want to do that?"

Gul swallowed hard, and laughed nervously. "He-hey. Easy there darlin' I was just messin' with ya."

"I ain't your darlin'! Credits now!"

"I would, but Ezra was late for his last work day."

"Don't care! Ezra, how much does he owe you?"

"Five-hundred."

She turned back to Gul. "Well, then I'll take seven-hundred credits."

Gul looked at her like she had three heads. "What? Why?"

"For all the trouble you've caused, not just Ezra, but me as well."

He went to his counter and pulled out the credits and handed them over to Kaci. She grinned and spoke sarcastically, "Thank you."

She marched out like she owned the place, and Gul looked at me. I just shrugged. "That's my darlin'."
