**Note: The end times events portrayed in this story are based off of those predicted in the Bible. They are not necessarily in the right order and may not correspond exactly with Biblical prophecy. For further study into the rapture, I would suggest going through a published study book on Revelation.

Summer's POV

Summer jogged up the steep hill by her house, feeling her lungs tighten as she pumped her long legs as fast as she could to reach the top. Once she made it, the ground leveled out and she finished the last mile of her journey to her best friend Haley's house. Earlier at school, they had decided to hang out after Haley's swim practice as usual. Summer finally reached the large front yard filled with ancient trees and decorative rocks. She walked up the sidewalk and rang the doorbell. No answer. She rang it again, at the same time calling the home phone. She heard the phone ringing from outside, but no one picked up. She knew that no one usually answered, but Haley should be at the door by now.

Summer sprinted over to the garage door and entered the code. She walked into the house and smelled something burning. Maybe Haley's mom is trying to cook again, Summer thought in amusement. She walked through the house, calling everyone's name.

"Haley! Jacob! Haley's mom!" Summer called. She entered the kitchen and saw smoke pouring out of the oven. At that instant, the fire alarm went off. She panicked and barreled into the wall, then leaped over to the oven and shut it off. The phone rang, and Summer picked up nervously.

"911," a serious-sounding woman stated. "Do you need assistance?"

"No, no," Summer panted. "Just a candle."

The woman hung up. Odd, Summer thought.

She searched the entire house. They had to be there somewhere, she'd seen all three cars in the garage. Haley's practice had gotten over hours ago. Summer hurried upstairs to Haley's room and walked over to her bed. Haley's favorite book, Left Behind, was lying open on her bedspread. Her clothes were lying on her bed neatly, accompanied by her favorite cross necklace and purity ring.

Slightly unnerved, Summer raced down the stairs and into Haley's mom's bedroom. She ripped back the covers and found a huge sweatshirt and shorts. She practically flew down the stairs to the basement where Jacob always played video games on the PS3. She cautiously approached the couch. The video game was running on the screen. Summer peered over the edge and collapsed on the ground. Jacob's favorite Nebraska T-shirt and athletic shorts were the only things left on the couch.
