Chapter 6

The Funeral

I wake up to the sound of Erik making breakfast. I smell waffles and syrup.

"Look whos finally up?" He says. I look at the clock on the wall. 11:42 AM. I get out of bed and walk into the kitchen. Erik hands me a plate of waffles and we sit at the table and eat. We eat in silence until Erik asks me a question. "So what was that dream about last night?"

"Nothing." I say. I take a bite of my waffles.

"It didnt seem like that last night. You looked like you saw a ghost." He says.

"It was nothing." I say again. I get up and wash my plate in the sink.

"Its ok you can tell me." He says again.

"SERIOUSLY! Its was NOTHING!" I yell. He backs up and puts his head down. He walks away and sits on the couch. "Sorry. Im just kinda messed up with the funeral and my mom coming to see me after 4 years..."

He doesnt reply. He keeps staring at the tv. I grab some dress clothes and get changed in the bathroom. After i get changed, I head down to the funeral. As I walk across the courtyard, I look up and see that its going to rain. As I walk across the courtyard, Gavin catches up with me.

"Your going to?" He asks me.

"Yep." I say. We walk and talk ablut Daniel. We reach the parking lot.

"You wanna ride?" He asks me.

"No thanks I can bike there." I reply.

"Its 10 miles..." He says.

"No its fine, i'll survive." I say. I walk over to my bike and I feel little droplets of rain. Soon it stars ti come down steadily. I here Gavins voice from down the road. I look toward him and see he's gesturing me to get in his car. I run over and hop in.

"Thanks." I say. He takes off and before I know it, we're at the funeral house. I walk in with him and we walk up to the casket. Its closed from all the bad things on his body. We sit down after we pay our respects.

I sit down with Gavin. We sit next to Daniels cousin. We listen to family members come up to the podium and speak about Daniel. After the funeral, Gavin drives me back to NOVA.

"Hey, a bunch of people are throwing a party in Daniels honor, you coming?" He asks.

"Uh...sure!" I say.

"Great, head up stairs and change. Meet me back here in 20 minutes." He says. I head up stairs and get changed. Erik pays no attention to me as I pick out me clothes...
