and we danced in the dark under the pale moonlight. our feet, in sync, leaping around on the grass. he tried to suppress his laughter, but it only ended up with him bursting out into loud chuckles. he slowly took me into his arms and laid his head on mine. I could feel his heart rapidly pounding against his chest. in that moment, the world stopped. I felt safe, comfortable, in his arms. not a single fear or worry, just serenity. it felt like every single one of my late night prayers had been answered. every step I took, every tear I shed, every moment I broke down- it was all worth it.
