Chapter Twenty-six: Yui

I heard a crash from Asuka's suite from down the hall. Ever since the Host Club had been here, she'd been secluding herself in this estate. I had gotten a neighbor to watch Leo for a few hours so I could come check on my best friend. Frederick had let me in. I made my way down the hall carefully, wondering what was going on. I opened her door and ducked, barely avoiding a frame that flew over my head and crashed against the wall behind me.

"Asuka?! What-" I pushed in and grabbed her arms, preventing her from throwing another frame. She was a mess, tear streaks on her cheeks and hair askew. "What's going on?" I lead her to a disheveled sofa and sat her down, then took a look around. The pictures of her parents were shattered and torn, and any pictures of Tamaki-kun she had were destroyed. The only picture left in tact was of Chihaya-chan.

"They sent me away, Yui! They didn't want me! And now my own brother hates me!" She broke down and sobbed, and I wrapped my arms around her. "Why am I so undesirable?"

My heart broke at her words, and I grabbed her hand. Which was bleeding. "Asuka! You're hurt... Wait here, I'll go get some bandages." I got up and ran to her bathroom, rummaging around the closet to locate the first aid kit. I grabbed some towels too, and filled a bowl I found with water. I may have gone overboard bit I was worried. By the time I gathered everything and went back to the sofa, Asuka was gone.

I set everything down and left the suite, following the voices i heard. I found Asuka in the front hall, with the Hitatchiin twins and Chihaya-chan. "What are you guys doing here?"

"Chihaya-chan and Kaoru wanted to see Asuka-senpai." One twin, I assumed was Hikaru, smirked. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm her best friend, and I was worried." I shrugged. "Her hand is bleeding. I was going to wrap it up..." I hooked my thumb backwards.

"What! Onee-chan, you're bleeding?!" Chihaya-chan pushed away from Asuka and grabbed her hand.

Which Asuka pulled back. "I- It's just a scratch..."

"What happened in here?" one twin spoke up, moving farther into the estate.

"It was a lot cleaner..." the other twin followed.

""Last time we were here."" they both spoke, and I found it creepy.

Asuka stayed quiet, and Chihaya-chan followed the boys. "Onee-chan, where's your room? I don't remember." she wandered towards the stairs, and we all followed silently. Asuka looked nervous, and stayed behind me when Chihaya-chan finally found Asuka's suite. She opened the door and went in, and I was surprised she didn't see the frame in the hall. I followed the Hitatchiins in and found her kneeling on the floor, a picture of Tamaki in her hands. Tears gathered in her eyes as she looked up at her cousin. "Onee-chan, why...?"

To my horror, Asuka started sobbing on the spot. "I- I was r- reading through an old f- file and m- my parents... They gave me away! Th- they couldn't handle t- two of us." My heart broke again, and I went to her along with Chihaya-chan. We both put our arms around her and led her into her bedroom. I cleaned and bandaged her wound, and Chihaya-chan made her lie down, tucking the blanket in around her before laying her head down. I sat and stroked Asuka's hair, and when she finally calmed down, I stood and faced the twins.

"Take me to Suoh-kun." They both stared at me with identical shocked expressions. Without waiting for a response, I stalked out of the suite and went downstairs. I was supposed to be spending these few hours with Asuka, but I could tell I was needed elsewhere. "Frederick. Where are the files Asuka had been reading before?" I found the loyal butler in the sitting room downstairs.

"Actually, I only have a copy. What do you need it for?" the man held out a manilla envelope.

"I'm going to read through it, and then make her brother read it." I looked him dead in his eyes, and he smiled.

"Good. The young Miss deserves better treatment." he handed me the envelope just as the others joined me.

"Keep an eye on her." I smiled at the man as we left. The drive was silent, everyone seething in their own way. Kaoru sat and stared out the window, his jaw clenched. Chihaya-chan held onto Hikaru's hand, still looking distraught. Hikaru looked completely lost, not knowing how to comfort either one of them.

We arrived promptly at the school, just as a middle school student left. We paid no attention to her as we made our way to Music Room 3 to find only five of the Host Club members inside. I set my jaw and stalked to the tall blonde idiot. "You!" I stuck my finger out and poked him til he was against the far wall. "What gives you the right to treat my best friend the way you have?!"

I was even nice and gave him a chance to redeem himself. "She lied to me..."

"No! She didn't!" I held my hand out and Kaoru slapped the envelope into it. "Read this! And if you still want to reject your sister, then fine." I stared him down until he looked away first. Then I proceeded to stomp my way back out in order to go home. I was angry and tired and really just wanted cuddles from my brother.

The little blonde left after Yui, followed by the older twin. Just as the younger twin started to leave, he heard sniffles coming from the princess on the bed. He immediately turned and went back to her, his heart hurting for her.

"Asuka-senpai..." he climbed onto the bed, stretching out beside the girl. "Please don't cry. We'll work everything out." He gently brushed a lock of hair out of her face, leaning over to kiss her forehead. He cuddled up to her, holding her close and whispering sweet nothings in her ear. Soon she was asleep, and the boy got up and kissed her head again. "It'll all be okay soon, I promise."

He closed the door softly and rejoined his twin and Chihaya, and they went downstairs to meet Yui at the front door. They left shortly, and Kaoru stewed in his thoughts. Even if Tono did take them in, he wasn't going to let that beautiful girl suffer like this for long.
