3rd Person POV
(15 hours later)

Reid was till pacing around the waiting room, frequently glancing at Garcia and Morgan. Morgan had her pulled close whole she sobbed into his shoulder. Reid felt an ache in his chest. He wanted that. He had wanted to ask Brine out for along time. But couldn't work up the courage and when he did she thought of it as a small get together of friends, co-workers.

They had still yet to hear anything about Brine. Everyone in the room was hoping to hear some good news soon. Sure Reid wanted news but he wasn't sure how much news he could handle. All he could do was keep thinking of the statistic in his head.

Stop. He hissed to himself. She's not a statistic. Reid then ran a hand down his face while shuffling his feet across the tiled floor. Redo hated hospitals, not that they scared them and he had even considered being a doctor but figured he could save more lives being a profiler. Besides, he liked saving living people and looking over dead people then cutting living people and looking over they're results. It was too uncertain for him.

"Brine Carder?" A voice cut the silence of the room. Reid froze while looking at the female doctor. She seemed to have good news but Reid tried not to get his hopes up. He found he was often devastated when he did that. So he scuffed his foot across the scratched tile, while rarely glancing at the doctor.

"How is she?" Hotch asked the doctor, she glanced down. Reid felt his breath catch him his throat. No. She couldn't be-

"She's alive." Alive, Reid could handle that. He nodded although he didn't even look like he was paying attention. "But she's unconscious, should be awake in a few hours at most it should be 20 hours-"

"Can we see her?" Reid blurted out, startling the young doctor who he hoped had not worked on Brine. She only blinked at him. Morgan slang a hand around his shoulder, letting out a small chuckle, breaking the silence.

"I'm sorry about him, he just wants to see her really bad." Morgan said and the doctor broke into a grin. Nodding before brushing her hair back. Reid didn't care if the doctor thought Morgan was cute, he wanted to go see Brine.

"Of course, yes you can see Miss Carder." The doctor said to them, Reid grumbled a small It's Brine, she thinks Carder makes her sound like a man before following the women. All Reid could think about was how she would want a new doctor but wouldn't ask for one because she was too nice, then claim to hate her all together when they were alone. Alone. "Right in here, please be sure-"

"Not our first time in a hospital." Reid grumbled with his hands jammed in his pockets. Sure everyone was strained but they knew not to attack a doctor. Reid had a deep brow crease in his forehead. All he wanted was to see Brine and ever this doctor was not going to stop him.

"Okay then, go in." She said and Reid pushed passed her without another word. She looked shocked and angered by his action. The others apologized or him, or even thanked her. Reid almost stopped in the door way. His clenched hands feeling now lose in his pockets. His breath caught in his throat as he saw her.

Brines head was laid back so she could breath, even though that was being done for her by a machine. Needles and bags surrounded her, machines making noises while her body was covered in gauze and a light blue gown. She would hate that. Her light brown hair was spread out across the bright while pillow, she was going to hate all this white, it would make her crazy. Maybe he could paint it, he doubted it. Her face was pale as a ghost and Reid was sure he was too.

Looking away from her for a moment Reid finally slipped his bag off his shoulders. Sitting next to her, pulling his chair to her bed side. His hand shaking as he reached up to clench her hand. It was cold and he felt his lip quiver. His eyes fluttered shut before dropping her hand suddenly while shoving away.

When Reid finally glanced up he saw that it was only Garcia and Morgan. Both staring at him. They seemed concerned because neither had ever seen him this hostile. Sure one time while he was obviously struggling with something he didn't need to be into but now it seemed emotional not dependent. Or maybe it was. Maybe he needed her around to make him feel better, sure he had lived without her when he didn't know she was there but now that he did he needed her.
