Temperence Brennan woke with a start. Another crash sounded from outside her bedroom door. She reached under her bed and pulled out a baseball bat. 1, 2, 3... The door handle turned easliy and she crept out into the hallway. The noise was coming from the living room she decided.
A person was bent over the floor, facing away from her. A man, she guessed, his build and short hair suggested so. He was just over average height, probably about 5"11. Small amounts of muscle on his back. He wouldn't be to hard to take out. Temperence took in a deep breath, a well placed blow would be all she needed to do, took a few paces forward and struck.
Perfect. He would be unconcious for approximately 45 minutes, plenty of time to call Booth.
She grabbed her phone from the kitchen counter and dialed Booth's number. "Bones? Its 3.56am why are you calling me?" Booth said, sounding exasperated.
"Someone broke into my apartment..." she began, but he interupted her.
"Broke into your apartment, are you okay? Did they take anything?" He bombarded.
"I'm fine, I got him before he could take anything."
"Wait a minute, he is in your apartment now?"
"He's unconcious-"
"Call the police , I'll be over in a second." Booth said hurriedly.
"A second, thats impossible." she said, but he had already hung up.
Temperence went over to inspect the body, deciding that, if he showed signs of muscle or pysical strength that she hadn't noticed before, she would indeed call the police. She rolled him over, using the bat and gasped.
"Zack?"
