Chapter 31

     I felt the blood rush from my face and I turned to Grayson.

    "Grayson..." I said, my voice breaking in a panic. He stood there, eyes wide at the floor. It was a few heartbeats later until he rushed over to me. 

     "Do you remember what I told you? Be strong. Don't Submit...." He said, suddenly putting his hands on the sides of my head, urgently looking in my eyes.

      "Y..yes..." I stuttered, trying to bite back tears. His eyebrows furrowed... 

      "Claire, it'll be okay... Just..." He struggled to find words as I continued trembling. 

      "I don't want to do this..." I sputtered, He dropped his hands from my face.

      "Be strong. Just... use that-" He motioned to my bandaged hand, "-to your advantage." 

      I nodded, and dried my eyes. I bit my lip.

      I don't want to do this....I don't want to lose my virgnity- especially not to Brody. Of all people.... I wanted it with someone who loved me; who would take care of me, with someone I loved, too.... This wasn't fair..... I thought back to Allie, who's boyfriend had taken her virginity when they first started dating 9 months ago.. She said it hurt like hell...

      Thoughts and fears ran through my head. Maybe he won't try to have sex with me....Oh, yeah right Claire. "Have her in my room in 30 min." While he stands there dripping wet? Yeah, he's just wanting to talk. Shit.... It's going to hurt.. He's going to do it.. it's going to hurt and it's going to be rape. It's going to fucking hurt like hell......How have you gotten yourself into this one, Claire...

     "ugh...." I put my head in my hands, wincing as I hit my bandage. 

      I felt a hand wrap around my shoulder. 

     "It will be okay..." Grayson said quietly. I could tell that he was unsure of what he was saying.. I looked up to see him checking his watch...

      "Claire.."

      "I know...."

      "I'm sorry, but I have to take you in there..."

      "I know..." I swallowed a lump in my throat, and stood, trying to keep a strong posture. He looked at me sadly, putting a hand on my shoulder and leading me out the door.

       The hallway was dark, and the hardwood floor was cold. The soft glow of a lamp at the end was the only light my eyes could find... Soon we approached a large wooden door. At the sight of it my stomach fell...  

       "Claire. I'm really sorry..... I wish.. I don't...." Grayson stumbled in a whisper to find words. I waved it off with my hand. I took a deep breath.

      "It's okay...I'll be oka-" I was cut off by Grayson's embrace, as he hugged me as tight as he could. I hugged him back, beginning to tremble and get choked up..

      "You're strong. You can outwit him..." Grayson whispered in my ear, still holding me tight. I nodded.

      We both relucantly let go.  I took a step back, looking at the floor and taking in a deep breath.

     "You remind me so much of my sister..." Grayson said sadly. I looked up to see a sad smile.

     "You're stronger than you think. You can do this.... just.... keep your head about you." He finished, tapping a finger on his head. I blushed, and looked back down.
