DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN DIVERGENT, THAT BELONGS TO THE VERY TALENTED VERONICA ROTH.
Truths
Here I'm sat, Tris in my lap surrounded by her friends and most importantly surrounded by my thoughts. My mind buzzes with the options, I could keep her secret, take matters into my own hands and do as I was told, or confront her on it.
"I need to talk to you." I whisper into her smooth skin, my mouth deciding before my mind could, her sweet scent intoxicating me. Why is it that I can never think straight around her? It's as if she puts me in autopilot or neutral, I loose all control. Next thing I know I'm dragging her to Zeke's bathroom standing in front of her as she sits casually and beautifully atop his vanity.
"What was it you needed to talk to me about?" Her eyes focus on her legs which swing in the air beneath her.
"Tris, I know you're Divergent." I whisper, coming straight to my point. Why did it have to be her of all people? It could have been anyone, but no it had to be her.
"What are you talking about? Divergents aren't real." She sounds so innocent, and I almost believe her. If only her words could be true. If only I hadn't heard that conversation earlier today. If only I hadn't fallen for this girl perched in front of me.
"Don't play stupid Tris, I heard you and your mother talking." I groan. If only. I yank my hand through my hair and let out a breath. I can't do this. I can't hurt her. Anyone but her. "You need to be more careful Tris, if it was any other leader that heard you, you'd be at the bottom of The Chasm by morning." I say conceding in my mental battle. She freezes all movement and her wide eyes stare up at me.
"You said other leader?" As her voice cracks so do I.
"Tris." I gently pull her eyes to mine. It's about time I'm honest, not only with her, but with myself. "I truly do care about you. I didn't fully know until I saw you with that Erudite boy today. It was then that I knew I don't want to see you with someone else. I want you to be mine and I'm not going to give you up now, over anything." I admit, not able to rip my eyes from hers.
"I don't think I can wait to be with you Eric." She whispers and my heart pounds in my chest.
"Good, because I don't want you to wait." I exhale before meeting her lips with my own. My body reacts to her every movement with excess passion. Her arms spring around me and I quickly move to pick her up by her legs. The contact of our skin warming my entire body. Her legs wrap around me and her lips part as a sigh escapes her. I slide my tongue past her lips and turn so her back is to the wall. My hand tangles into her hair earning a breathy moan as I removed my lips from hers to place them on her neck. My head moves from the hollow of her throat up to the base of her ear and I whisper softly "Will you be mine?" Before pressing my lips just behind her ear and moving to gaze over her.
"Yes." She gasps and a smile creeps its way onto my face before she pulls my lips back to hers.
Confessions
I watch my hand move as I knock on Max's office door, the movement sending a ripple of moving muscle and tendon thought my arm.
"Come in." I hear Max call from beyond the door and I take a deep breath pushing through the door into the cozy room. "Eric," Max smiles glancing over the the papers in his hand. "What can I do for you?" He asks setting the papers aside and gesturing to the chair in front of his large wooden desk. I take a seat and he weaves his hands together resting them in front of him on the desk top. He raises his eyebrow urging me to speak and I inhale deeply.
"I need to be honest with you about something regarding initiation this year." I say quickly and he nods.
"Ok." He says waiting for me to continue.
