chapter one

I felt him before I saw him

It was as if when he was near, my body was on full alert, but at the same time it would shut down

You see, it was better to take the pain that way, when my body shut down. I would become numb, immune to anything until it was eventually time to face the pain

My dad wasn't a drunk, but he was just angry. Yes, an angry human being with no remorse whatsoever. I mean you would think being his only daughter and all he would treat me somewhat as if I were a living creature. Hell people treat dogs better

He was a rich man, my dad was. He had it all. The looks, the money, the life. But the one he didn't have, his love.

The love of his life.

She was my mother, who died giving birth to me.

"It's all your fault!!" he says

"You should have died not her!!" he says

"You useless piece of shit!!" he says 

I believe him. Although I wish I grew up with a better life more than getting beat up for simply sneezing at the wrong time, I guess I do deserve it.

And because I deserve it, I live with it.
