My eyes slowly open, and I look right into Logan's eyes, which flash red, before going back to normal. He carefully leans down and lifts me to an upright position, then studies me intently.
"Ann?"
"L-Logan?" I stammer, confused as all get-out.
"What happened?"
"I ... I - I think I died, Logan ..."
"You ... you kinda did. Your body rejected the Change, and your heart stopped. Elaine's gone, she ran away, left us, after she yelled at us, of course," he says. "I left you here in this bed because I knew that you'd come back somehow. How did you?"
"I think the more prominent question is; Why was Kendall there to save me?"
His eyes widen. "What?"
"Logan, the Kendall here is an impostor. He is not the real Kendall, and the real one is wherever the hell I went to when I died. So I don't suppose you happen to know just where that is, do you?"
He leans back and runs his hands through his hair. "No, but maybe that Kendall does."
"And how am I supposed to contact him without dying?" I whisper. "Not to mention the fact that my sister kinda sorta ran away!"
I rest my head in my hands and sigh heavily. Why on earth do all of these things happen to me? Why the hell am I even trying to do half of this shit when I am so out of my league that it's ridiculous?
"You and him are linked now, because whatever he did to bring you back has made it so you two ... you two share hearts right now. So it's actually rather easy, I believe. You just close your eyes and call upon him."
I look at him. "And are you okay with that?"
"I guess I have to be. If anybody can do it, it's you, Ann. But right now, you and James are going to go search for your sister, okay?" he says.
I wrap my arms around him, holding him close to me. "Thank you for never giving up on me, Logan."
"I promise you, I never will."
