Courtney

"Cat!" Kirsty yelled while dragging me along to this new friend she had made. Leaning against the wall by the entrance to the lunchroom was the goth I saw earlier. She was adjusting her black corset and then her matching black mini skirt. "There she is!"

Kirsty dragged us over to this girl. She looked uninterested in us yet welcome us when we arrived. "Hey, Kirsty. You must be the of so famous Courtney I heard about." She moved the black spiked choker around her neck back and forth for a few seconds while waiting for a response.

"Yeah, hey. I'm Courtney. You must be, Cat." Leave it to Kirsty to become friends with all the freaks in the school. If she really is as cool as Kirsty calms she is then we will be the weird group in school.

"Yeah. Real name is Cathleen but, I am no Cathleen. Cat's just my nickname that people use. I would say friends but I don't have friends." She lazily stuck out her hand. I grasped it and gave it a shake.

"I know the feel. The only friend I have in this school is Kirsty and my twin brother."

"That cocky popular boy I saw you with early is your brother? I'm sorry." A slight grin spread across her face.

"Thanks. I need all the apologies I can get. Shall we go to our normal spot to eat?" I turned to Kirsty.

"Oh, yeah!" She grinned at both of us. "Off we go. I will lead the way."

"Where do you eat?" Cat asked as we started to walk away from lunchroom.

"Just the area in school that no one likes to go to. Probably because I'm there..." I laugh. "It's the perfect spot. Right by these small backdoors."

"Perfect."

Once we were all seated in our spot for lunch we dig into our lunches. Cat didn't bring one today so I offered her some of my food. She accepted eating half of my alfredo parmesan taking the container away from me when I had finished my portion. I ate a slice of bread while listening to Kirsty babble about how her brother was coming down to visit with his wife and new little girl.

"Court, I need to talk to you." I glanced up at the voice to see Caleb standing a few feet away from our group. "It's kinda important. I need your help on a matter and I don't want you to be angry at me for it." He rubbed his neck with the palm of his hand.

"What is it?" I asked raising my eyebrows at him. "I'm kinda busy." I gestured to the two girls placed on either side of me.

"Oh you made a new friend? Now I'll have to stay and talk to her. Anyone who is a friend of Court's is a friend of mine. Oh, and Court it's something I need to talk to about alone." Caleb looked uncomfortable which was something new for him. It must be important. I push myself off the ground and excuse myself from the group.

"Yes, Caleb?" I said when we were out of earshot of my two friends.

"Well, you see, the thing is that in the love game...." Caleb started.

"Why are you telling me about your stupid game that I want nothing to do with?" I glare at him.

"Well they bet me to get Kirsty."

"What?!"

"I don't want to do it," he said quickly. "I agreed because I have to. Can I just spend a lot of time around you guys and then tell the guys I won? Please?"

"And what if I say no?"

"I'll have to actually try to win." Caleb ran a hand through his hair. "I don't want to do that to you, or her. Please?"

"Fine." I turn and started walk away. "I won't be happy about it though you asshole."

"I understand!" Caleb ran to catch up. "Thanks."

"Don't thank me for this," I spit out before grinning at the two girls waiting for me. "Hey guys! Caleb wants to get to know Cat now that she is 'one of us' so he insisted to join our group for a couple of days."

"Won't all the girls miss you, Caleb?" Kirsty joked.

"They can deal." Caleb smiled and took a seat by Kirsty. He looked over at Cat. "What is your name?"

"Cat."

"Good to meet your Cat. I'm Caleb." He gave her one of his heart melting grins.

"Did it look like I wanted to know your name?" She rolled her eyes at him making Caleb's jaw drop.

"Oh! Roasted!" I yell and take a seat by Cat. "You got to be somewhat kind to him. He is my asshole brother after all."

"He's an asshole? Hmm maybe we could get along then." Cat smiled slighting.

"That's what I'm talking about!" I wrap one of my arms around Cat's shoulders and gave her an awkward side hug.

"Whatever." Cat sighed a let me hug her. She was a good person. Someone who I could easily be friends with.

Everyone chatted throughout the rest of lunch. Caleb made an effort to talk to Kirsty but she was too busy trying to get to know Cat better. She even went as far as asking random questions to her.

"What's your favorite color?"

"Black."

"What's your favorite animal?"

"Uhh.. snake. Boa constrictor"

"What is your favorite food?"

"Devil's food cake."

Cat seemed unphased from all the questions. It didn't bother her in the slightest. She was most likely questioned a lot in her life. Anyone who stood out like she did probably had many people rattling off questions to her on a daily basis.

The bell rang signaling for the next class and we all parted our ways. Dread came over me as I made my way to the next class. The class after the one, my last class of the day, was with Ace. Just my luck.
