Summer.
Warm wind playfully catches my hair,
Blowing it behind me.
Fragrances of colorful flowers and fauna fill my nose and I inhale.
Skipping, playfully chasing birds and butterflies
Through a field.
Splash.
Cool water weaves its way between my toes.
The cold hard pebbles dance with each step I take across the creek.
Bare feet step up, and they dry in the soft emerald green grass.
Little water droplets fall off my fingers and evaporate into the air.
I continue to chase lucky ladybugs and make wishes on them,
Painted summer skies dim, I catch fireflies in jars;
The sun moves behind the moon and its children, the stars.
Morning comes again, and do my eyes deceive me?
This sweet summer air is slowly starting to leave.
Autumn.
Cool winds bring a shiver down my spine.
Auburn, brick, and brown colored leaves swirl gracefully,
Believing they have a chance to fly.
Squirrels scurry, collecting their acorns, and chipmunks stuff their wide fluffy cheeks.
Children dress up and perform tricks to earn treats.
Girls bring out mahogany and maroon colored hair, clothes, and nails.
Pumpkin and spice
Warm mugs of chocolate are often inhaled.
And as our families are outside by the crackling fire,
A white unique flake falls into our laps.
Winter.
It has come, it is finally here.
Sleigh bells are heard and their songs can be sung.
Children dream of a man in a red suit,
Our families put up lights and Nativity scenes.
Cold winter wind blows through the air.
Snowflakes are falling,
Causing mini blizzards everywhere.
Some think it violent,
Lovely, dark, and deep nights.
Others seem to find it good at giving light.
I walk through the same field,
Now it is covered with snow.
My frozen fingers reach out to try and pick a frozen rose.
We all shiver, trying to stay warm inside of our homes.
But just like all the other seasons in the year,
Winter will leave as quickly as it came.
All of a sudden, a warm wind of sweet blissful hope.
Winter is over.
We no longer need to suffer in the harshness of the longest season of the year,
In a cold winter's snow.
Spring.
What a joyous day this warmth shall bring!
Flowers bloom,
They burst through the layer of frost that is still covering the ground.
Snow melts, and replenishes once frozen streams.
Beautiful flowers and fauna they feed.
Slowly, yes, but not all at once,
Life grows back to what it once was.
Trees grow back their beautiful green leaves
(The leaves that are finally not falling on me).
The creek water is cold,
From the newly melted snow,
But the sun heats up everything, it leaps from behind the clouds.
This season, is the season of new beginnings.
My bare feet once again race through the moss and the grass,
With new friends by my side.
All of us run past newly grown nature.
We all ignore, that this season will end like the rest,
Because right now is what matters-
This, is the season of new dreams, bigger wings, and creating big things.
Yes, this is the season of new beginnings.
And then, once again the seasons change slowly and almost unnoticed...
Summer.
