Chapter 4.5: The Letters

Dear Desiree,
Sorry that I couldn't write back sooner. I have been in a few predicaments and they still haven't gave us permission to have our phones. How have you been though? I hope you got the pictures I sent you last time of us years ago. I figured u needed that laugh once in a while. I've been good though. I just can't wait to come back to see you. It's been 3 almost 4 years since I last seen you. I've thought about you every day and I keep your picture in my back pocket whenever I have to use my gun. I miss you like crazy and I still love you like I did before I left. I was actually thinking of leaving after this contract and come back to live with you. I'm actually beginning to love the Infantry life though. A little dirty for my taste but we been playing in mud since we we're young right? I regret leaving you in the state you were in though. I hope you've gotten better and Enjoyed the gifts I sent also. If you're wondering, I haven't found any girl yet cause I seem to only have eyes for you. I hope you write back ASAP. Love you. Always have. Always will.

Desiree had a big smile while she was reading the letter. It was almost like she could hear him speaking to her. She began to tear up just thinking about him and everything that has been going on in the past few days. She always had love for him and she felt even worse since she hasn't told him about Keith yet. She loves Keith, but she also loves Roland just as much. She always felt secure with Roland, even when it's just a letter. She then wiped her face then began writing back.

Dear Roland
I'm just glad you wrote back. I don't know what I would do if something happened to you. I've been better though. I got a promotion at work so I'm an Executive Supervisor so more back for me haha. Yeah I got your pictures. I can't believe you kept them though. We we're so young. I can't believe that I could be loving someone I basically knew as my best friend. I miss you alot too Rolly. Yeah you still,got your name. I still love you just the same too. As much as I miss you, you better not leave the Army for me. I'll be fine. I just pray you come back in one piece. You also need to let me know when you get some leave dates so you can come back to me. As much as I want you to myself, you'll find someone eventually I guess haha. I wrote this as soon as I read your letter. I love you too. Always Rolly.

Keith walked in and saw Desiree smiling hard as she sealed her letter. "You look happy.", Keith said smiling. "Yeah I guess l.", Desiree responded. "I see your best friend Roland sent you a good letter.", Keith teased, laughing afterwards. "Um yeah he did.", Desiree responded. They kissed and and played down to go to sleep. "Goodnight Desi.", Keith said. "Goodnight Ro-*cough* *cough*.", Desiree caught herself bad before she finished. "You okay?", Keith asked, patting her back. "Yeah. I just got choked.", Desiree explained. They layed back down and slept. Desiree then felt her phone vibrate beside her. She opened it and saw it was a text from Tracy. "Have the sweetest dreams Desi. 😉😘😘😘." , it read.
