Chapter Twenty-One

"Hey..." Grant greeted me with his soft voice as soon as his face appeared on my screen.

Napakagat ako sa labi ko. Halos mapunit na nga ito dahil nagpipigil ako ng ngiti. I sweetly greeted him back.

Parang matutunaw na ang screen sa sobrang pagtitig ko. I can't help it. Kahit na kakaalis niya lang kahapon ay hindi ko maiwasan ang pagka-miss sa kanya. I knew I was going to miss him, hindi ko lang alam na ganito pala kalala.

It was such a novelty because I never missed someone this way before. It doesn't hurt but I felt longing. It's worse because there's something missing inside you and you can't fix it.

Nakapagface time rin naman kami kagabi pero saglit lang iyon dahil ako mismo ang nagpaalam. I knew he was tired from his flight, that's why I asked him to sleep early. Pinagbigyan niya naman ako at sinabihan na matulog na rin. Wala naman akong naging reklamo don, obviously.

"What did you do today?" tanong niya.

Tumagilid ako sa pagkakahiga at inayos ang phone sa tapat ng mukha ko.

"Nag mall kasama ng pinsan ko. We shopped for Christmas gifts." I wiggled my eyebrows and his lips twitched into a small smile. My eyes locked on that curve for a while before I looked at his while face again.

"Mine including?"

I forced my face to drop the smile. "Shit. I forgot to buy yours."

Agad na suminangot si Grant dahil doon. He looked so adorable. Hindi ko na napigilan ang pagtawa ko.

"Joke lang. Of course I bought you a gift and I'm sure you'll love it." I proudly beamed.

"Really now?" he raised a brow.

"Oo naman. Ako ang nagbigay eh. Kaya dapat lang." I playfully rolled my eyes at him.

I'm not really sure if he'll love it, but it's the first thing that came into my mind while I was trying to think of the perfect gift for him.

Naalala ko kasi ang phone at tablet niya na walang kalaman-laman ang music application kaya naisipan ko na gawan siya ng extensive playlist.

Logan suggested an iPod touch but I thought that it was too grand for a first gift, that's why I decided to stick with the latest iPod nano. Kulay Gold ang pinili ko dahil masyadong plain ang white at black.

I started making the playlists earlier pero huminto lang ako dahil sa tumawag si Grant ngayon. I'll just resume it tomorrow. Detailed kasi ang bawat playlist na ginagawa ko. May work out playlist, sleep playlist, sad playlist, and many more.

Grant let out a small yawn. It stopped me from thinking. I went back to staring at him and noticed how worn out he looked.

Namumungay na ang mga mata niya at mukhang antok na antok ba sa sobrang pagod.

My lips puckered. "You look tired."

"A little." he gave me a small smile that says 'don't-worry-it's-nothing-to-worry-about'. "We walked a lot today."

My eyes basically twinkled. I want to hear about their trip. Kagabi ay nagpahinga sila at naglibot lang saglit sa night market kaya wala siya gaanong kwento.
