I woke up at around 8:00 AM, and church started at 10 AM. Dad usually sleeps until at least 8:45, so I usually spent sometime to myself watching tv. I padded down the steps in my fuzzy slippers, and to my dismay, Olivia was at the coffee maker in a silk, navy blue, robe.

"Oh Brooklyn, good morning." She turns her attention toward me, two coffee mugs in her hands.

"Morning." I mumble, making a detour for the living room and deciding to skip on breakfast today. I plop myself in Dad's recliner and turn the tv to some cartoons. I curl up in the corner and just watch Nickelodeon.

It's now 9:26, Dad isn't awake, and I'm ready for church. I just sit in bed, thinking if I should go in his room and see if he's even awake, or if I should just wait it out. Usually I would go wake him up, but since Olivia is here, I don't think he'd be too happy with me. He's not one to lose his temper too easily, but I'm sure it'd be different since there's a 'girlfriend' in the picture. I scroll through my phone and decide to text my friend.

Brook- Ally OMG. I think my dad got a girlfriend and I do not like her at all. Her name is Olivia and I do not have a very good feeling about her. I haven't known her that long, but still. Know what I mean?

Ally- I totally get you girl. Especially if she tries to be your mom. I'd be ticked. Did you talk to him about it?

Brook- he didn't really get it.

Ally-I am so sorry girl. But I've gotta get to church now. Love ya!!

Brook- alright ttyl

Well, at least she tried. My Dad just doesn't get what I'm feeling about this whole Olivia concept. She will never be my mother, I hope he makes that clear to her. Did he even tell her about Mom? About all of it? I wonder......

"Daddy?" I knock on Dad's door, seeing that it's now 9:55. This is not like him on a Sunday morning. Dad is always ready to go at least ten minutes before church even begins. I don't get a response, but I can hear talking.

"Nick, stop. I cannot stand that." I hear Olivia going on and on.

"But you know I love you." My Dad talks in the sweetest voice ever. The voice he used to talk to my mom in, whenever they'd tease each other. I feel tears wanting to come, but I don't let them. I decide not to eavesdrop anymore and walk quietly down the stairs. I choose to get myself an apple and I sit at the counter, still in my outfit for church. As I'm finishing up, Dad comes down in just shorts. No shirt, as usual.

"I am so sorry-"

"It's fine Dad." I cut him off before he finishes, throwing the core in the garbage.

"Brook, I'm serious. I feel so bad." He stops me before I get to the first step, looking me in the eyes.

"It really is okay Dad. I know that Olivia is a big part of your life now, and I guess you guys just didn't feel up to going to church. It's cool." I push past his arms and go upstairs to my bedroom. I start to change out of my nice dress and put on some yoga pants and a baggy sweatshirt that says I Need More Sleep. My hair was nice and wavy today, and I'm not going to ruin it by putting it up. I let my brown hair fall down my back in nice beach waves. I settle back into my bed, putting a movie in the DVD player on my laptop. I chose to watch the whole first season of Full House, since I had them all on DVD. I put in my headphones and block out all noise except for my laptop.

"Miss Mysterious, who are you, who's the girl behind those eyes just a stranger in disguise-" I was in the middle of singing, when Dad came in the room.

"She's gone now." He leans against my doorframe, wearing a lose t shirt and basketball shorts.

"K, cool." I mutter, not looking up from my laptop.

"Is there anything you wanna talk about?" He asks, sitting on my bed by me.

"If I try you'll just tell me to get over it. So there's really no point." I snap at him.

"Hey, don't have that kind of attitude with me young lady."

"Honestly, I think I have the right to. I mean considering you brought another woman in my life who's trying to replace my mother-"

"She's not replacing your mother!" He cries out.

"You know she will. You guys seem to get along perfectly fine." I close my laptop and go set on my desk, not looking at my Dad.

"Do you wanna go do something?" He asks.

"Like what?" I turn around, Dad standing by my bed.

"Monopoly?" He suggests, a smirk creeping on his lips.

"Sure." I give a small smile and walk out of the room, Dad following behind.

"I win!" I cheer, my voice loud. I throw my hands in the air and am smiling from ear to ear. This is the first time I've won Monopoly against Dad in a long time.

"Yeah, yeah." Dad just rolls his eyes and chuckles at me, starting to put the game away. I help put the money away, my phone suddenly playing Ally's ringtone which is the minions.

"Hang on a sec." I instantly blush and answer the phone, excusing myself to the living room.

"Hey Al." I greet my friend through the phone.

"Hey B. What's up with the new girlfriend now?"

"She's out of the house, finally. Dad wants me to try and get along with her but it's kinda hard. I don't her replacing my mom, ya know?" I take a seat in Dad's chair and adjust the phone up to my ear.

"I totally get you. Are you ready for the Math test tomorrow?" Ally changes the subject right off the bat.

"Ugh, no. I haven't studied at all." I roll my eyes and sigh, sinking more into the chair.

"Brook! Dinner!" My Dad calls. I look at my phone and see that Ally and I have been talking for an hour.

"I gotta go Al. Dinner. But I'll see you tomorrow." I tell her, stretching from getting up from the chair.

"Okay. Talk to you later love you." Ally hangs up first and I walk into the kitchen. I immediately see a pizza box sitting on the counter and Dad getting plates out. Yum.
